In May 1829, Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery were working on the translation of the Book of Mormon when they came across a passage about the importance of baptism for the remission of sins.

Perhaps the largest sacrament meeting in the world is happening right now in the Marriott Center.
BYU Fathers and Sons camp. 1,300 people. 16 priests blessing and 36 deacons passing the sacrament.
Former @byufootball tight end and now counselor in the Sunday School Presidency, Gabe Reid said this gathering celebrates the greatest victory ever won. Jesus over sin and death.
@BYUMBB head coach Kevin Young also talked about building a foundation on Christ.
Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and his wife, Sister Lesa Stevenson, ministered to members, missionaries, youth and civic leaders in Australia, New Caledonia, Samoa and American Samoa.

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently toured the Church’s new Humanitarian Center, ahead of its Wednesday, May 27, opening. President @OaksDallinH said the center “will serve an important role in preparing and distributing emergency supplies to meet global needs.”
Joining the Primary general presidency and a group of children for the recent Friend to Friend broadcast, Elder @GerritWGong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Sister Susan Gong, taught about living prophets on the earth today.
Elder Gong testified of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and Their love for each one of us, then added: “And because They love us so much, They give us prophets to bring Their messages, to bring Their words, to bring Their love so that we can be happy as families and so we can be together as families forever.”
And at https://t.co/B1pkIb5smK and on the Church News app, read how a service mission changed the life for a young Latter-day Saint. He was initially disappointed in not receiving a call to teach. But he found his service call near his Southern California home provided ways to plant gospel seeds and later gain employment and find an eternal companion.
There are 31 weeks left in the year.
The Senate is currently scheduled to be in recess for 16 of them.

Stop taking vacations.
It was remarkable to have been in Otavalo, Ecuador and hear that the prophet of the Lord has authorized the building of a temple here.
To see the faith of the people here who came to a devotional on a Thursday evening, not knowing this would also be a temple announcement, is incredible.
I’ve been so impressed with the faith in Jesus Christ that members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ecuador have and feel grateful for them and their example over the decades.

In recent months, we’ve seen remarkable growth in the number of missionary applications and in the creation of new missions around the world. Many wonder why this is happening now when it contrasts with trends that suggest that the rising generation is less engaged in religiosity.
Several factors are probably operative, including some intentional changes the Church has made over the past several years for children and youth. One of the most important is focusing bishoprics more intensively on the rising generation, specifically on the young men and young women.
Another is that the For the Strength of Youth Conferences are more readily available. These are spiritual experiences for so many and spur interest in sharing the joy of the gospel.
Finally, more families are engaging in earlier scriptures study, especially with the aid of Come, Follow Me curriculum. This has altered Sunday worship practices.
As more young women choose to serve as sister missionaries, there seems to be a leavening effect. They affect the work with members, they affect how young elders serve, and they have a significant impact in their missions.
And importantly, young women and young men learn to work in counsel with each other. I believe this will have a major impact on the work of salvation and exaltation as these missionaries return home and already know how to work and function in councils in ward and stake settings.
What we are witnessing today is more than growth in numbers. Across the world, missionaries are demonstrating a deep devotion to the Savior and a sincere consecration to His work. An increasing number express that their fundamental reason for serving is their love for Jesus Christ and their desire to join Him in His work—an inspiring reflection of the faith and commitment that characterize today’s missionary force.
As the work goes forward, this is indeed a joyous and marvelous work and a wonder.

“Ministering brothers and sisters are not called, sustained, or set apart. Their service is part of the covenant they made at baptism (see Mosiah 18:8–11)."
Today we honor mothers and women of all ages and circumstances.
When I think of those who have helped make me who I am, I think first of my sweet and selfless eternal companion, Melanie.
Through the years, she has helped mold me like potter’s clay into a more polished disciple of Jesus Christ. She knows when to draw me back, slow me down, and get it right. In large measure, it’s her spiritual influence that has led to everything that I’ve done spiritually. She’s kept me spiritually grounded.
Women of faith have profound influence upon families and the world. Please know you are cherished and loved. I sustain you on this day and every day.
"Because She is a Mother"
President Jeffrey R. Holland titled his talk on the subject after these lines attributed to Victor Hugo of a young mother who gave bread to her children, but none to herself. When a young sergeant asked why, his colleague replied with the famous line "because she has a mother."
I've watched Christine show the same selfless care through the birth of eight children, late nights, first days of school, journal entries, temple visits and earnest prayers, soccer games, cheer tryouts, and swim meets, phone calls and late night conversations, organizing projects and homework assignments, shouts of joy, tears of empathy and prayers of hope, personalized outreach, messages, and ministering.
Mothering has changed for Christine since James first joined our family in October of 1996. Nearly 30 years of mothering. Eight children! Boy, girl, boy, girl, followed by the twins, then two more daughters who are still at home with us! Now a granddaughter! And this week, another granddaughter coming! And through it all she continues to minister, to teach, and to love with patience and spiritual care, because she is a mother!
My mother was an example of pure goodness. Her expectations motivated me. Almost every action I made was measured against the thought, “I do not want to disappoint my mom.”
Together with my father, my parents anchored our home in the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It was the foundation of our lives. I will always be grateful for my mother’s righteous influence on me early in my life.
I am equally grateful to my Lesa and the wonderful mother she has always been for our children.
In every season of our life together, I have witnessed Kathy’s amazing talent and capacity as she has mothered, blessed, taught, nurtured, and helped each of our children, and me as well, come to know the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I am forever indebted to her. I am humbled and so very grateful that Kathy and I have the promise that as we are faithful, we will be together for all eternity because of the Savior's atoning grace and the priesthood power that flows from the covenants of His holy house.
Happy Mother’s Day to all.
🚨 NY’s Tax Exodus Just Got Worse
NY Gov. Kathy Hochul is stunned by fresh IRS data.
Between 2020-2024, 892 companies fled New York — taking $47 BILLION in income with them.
• Florida: 341 companies
• Texas: 187
• North Carolina: 129
It’s not just billionaires anymore. Middle-class professionals, small business owners, and families are voting with their feet — escaping crushing taxes, regulations, and declining quality of life.
Shrinking tax base = those who stay pay even more.
Hochul once mocked them: “Just get on a bus.”
Now the exodus is accelerating — killing jobs, services, and the economy.
Actions have consequences.
