Higgi Endaba is not merely a relic of the past. Eritrea's modern Civil and Penal Codes of 2015 were drafted after extensive study of these customary laws, incorporating principles and values that had guided Eritrean communities for centuries.

The publication of this book therefore sheds light not only on Eritrea's legal heritage, but also on foundations that continue to influence its contemporary legal system.

What is "Higgi Endaba" (ሕግታት እንዳባ)?

It is Eritrea's traditional customary law system, developed long before the modern state. Communities relied on assemblies of elders and local codes to resolve disputes, regulate land use, manage family affairs, and preserve social harmony.

Its objective is often to restore relationships between families, neighbors, and communities through mediation, compensation, and consensus, helping maintain long-term peace and stability.

Key players of the Eritrean National Team include Filimon Gerezgier, who will be competing in the Bundesliga against top teams such as Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. The captain of the national team, Ablelom Teklezgie (Ambes), serves as a driving force in the midfield. Additionally, Nahom Tadesse, recognised as Eritrea's Player of the Year, is one of the most creative members of our national squad. After the first camp of the FIFA international window, our National Team has concluded its activities and met all the new players who participated in testing. The next camp will take place soon, ahead of the important games in September. All the players enjoyed a productive eight-day stay in Eritrea. During this time, the Commissioner of Culture and Sport, Ambassador Zemede Tekle, met with all the players, the Head Coach, and ENFF officials. The camp concluded successfully, and the National Team looks sharp as they prepare to select the squad. The official announcement will be made by ENFF.

مصر وإريتريا تغلقان البحر الأحمر في وجه إثيوبيا مجددا !!

فى رفض رسمى جديد للطموحات البحرية الإثيوبية في منطقة القرن الأفريقي، شددت القمة المصرية الإريترية المنعقدة بالقاهرة على أن أمن واستقرار البحر الأحمر وحوكمته هما مسؤولية حصرية ومباشرة للدول المشاطئة له فقط، مما يقطع الطريق تماماً أمام مساعي أديس أبابا لإيجاد موطئ قدم عسكري أو سياسي غير شرعي في هذا الممر الملاحي الحيوي.

وجاء هذا الموقف خلال المباحثات الموسعة التي عقدها الرئيس المصري عبد الفتاح السيسي مع نظيره الإريتري أسياس أفورقي بقصر الاتحادية، حيث أكد الجانبان على التنسيق المشترك لحماية السلم والأمن الإقليميين، ورفض أي تحركات أحادية تؤثر على سيادة دول المنطقة.

أعتقد أن تأكيد القمة على "المسؤولية الحصرية" للدول الساحلية يمثل جداراً دبلوماسياً وقانونياً يحاصر المذكرة الموقعة سابقاً بين إثيوبيا وإقليم "أرض الصومال" الانفصالي، ويجردها من أي شرعية إقليمية، خاصة مع إعلان الرئيس السيسي التزام مصر الثابت بدعم سيادة إريتريا وسلامة أراضيها، وهو ما يمثل تحذيراً غير مباشر من مغبة أي تصعيد أو ضغوط قد تمارسها أديس أبابا للحصول على منفذ بحري بالقوة أو عبر اتفاقات غير معترف بها دولياً.

ولم تقتصر المباحثات على ملف البحر الأحمر، بل امتد التنسيق ليشمل مستجدات الأوضاع في السودان الشقيق، حيث جدد الرئيسان تأكيدهما على الموقف الراسخ الداعم لوحدة السودان وسيادته وأمنه، وضرورة إنهاء الأزمة الراهنة ودعم جهود استعادة الاستقرار الشامل فيه، باعتباره جزءاً لا يتجزأ من الأمن القومي لمنطقة القرن الأفريقي.

وعلى الصعيد الثنائي، شهدت القمة اتفاقاً على دفع العلاقات بين القاهرة وأسمرة إلى آفاق أرحب، لا سيما من خلال تعزيز التعاون الاقتصادي، والاستثماري، والتبادل التجاري، مما يعكس رغبة البلدين في تحويل هذا التحالف الاستراتيجي والسياسي إلى شراكة تنموية مستدامة تحقق الرخاء للشعبين الشقيقين.
