This episode was promising for him! Hoping that he (and the writers) can figure out his voice as a sketch performer more this season. I could see him becoming a great Sudeikis-type utility straight man. That's the type of castmember he should be modeling his career after imo.
Really strange. Never seen them do anything quite like this where they essentially only air like, half of a sketch bc they're low on time. Feel kinda bad for Dismukes and whoever wrote this because the second beat does make it better.
UPDATE: Mystery solved. SNL has now posted both parts of “Amazing Tales of Truth” to YouTube under its “Cut for Time” banner, pairing the sketch that aired Saturday with the payoff that didn’t.

I hope the positive response to this reminds the show that they can in fact still do runners in an episode. They used to do on like a weekly basis! You can still have fun with the format! Not everything needs to break down easily into a YouTube playlist.
recent victims of this phenomenon include:
devon walker
emil wakim
michael longfellow
punkie johnson
... i fear the grim reaper may be coming for tommy brennan and/or ben marshall
i feel like every 2 years there are cast member additions that are lorne hoping to tee up new weekend update hosts and then jost and che just refuse to leave and the hires end up getting canned
glad to see even marginally more saidah this episode. SNL was in need of a NYC cool girl on the cast. saidah is that. with all the other girlies it's either their schtick is being uncool or they are not really very new-yorky
need more short sketches like this!!! they used to do it all the time. makes the show feel more like a variety show. so sick of sketches whose bit is only worthy of 2 minutes is painfully stretched out into a 5 minute beat-a-dead-horse-athon
At a whopping 19 minutes and 55 seconds, that was the longest Weekend Update in over 10 seasons of SNL (next longest in that span - 17:45 in 50x19)
@thesnlnetwork
best sketch of the ep imo. maybe just bc it was exciting to see jane, veronika, grace, and saidah all playing off of each other for the first time. feels like a preview of what could be a very strong female cast contingent over the next few years
I think Grace Reiter is gonna help unlock Wickline and Veronika. Those three, plus maybe Saidah are looking like a nice little bloc that will be serving up some weirdo shit every week
i feel like kenan, mikey, colin, che all feel like they're waiting around for lorne to step down. and i think kenan and mikey are both also afraid of the comedy landscape outside of SNL and know that there's not much out there for them
at what point does staying on SNL for a long time stop being you becoming a legacy cast member and start being you pulling up the ladder behind you. how do you not see this young cast and step aside to let them shine?
that said, very glad that in the second episode her appearance was not the punchline in any of the sketches she was in as it was in a couple in the first ep
grace reiter slotting right into some of these sketches. SNL had been missing a non-skinny girl in the cast and she's the best they've had since aidy. ceiling might be higher for what she can do on the show
