@MediaOffline1 @BDEgameowners Commander by definition has multiple more rules, players, and tons more cards to keep track of (4 commanders, 4 99 singleton). Untap upkeep draw isn’t impactful specifically in kitchen table/casual commander because people just shortcut, but it does matter everywhere else.

@MediaOffline1 @BDEgameowners It didn’t. People just lose track of it in the sea of other things to think about and it is very common among commander only players to make this mistake because they learned on commander and nobody corrected them cus its really not impactful outside of competitive

@MediaOffline1 @BDEgameowners I’ve taught people on both plenty, and while to an experienced player it seems silly, all the extra variables commander introduces make the game harder to learn and develops bad play habits (draw before untap, etc)
Just get a free welcome deck and save your buddy a headache

Magic is a very complicated game. All you achieve by teaching someone through commander is further confusion. It can be done but you’re making it harder

@MediaOffline1 @BDEgameowners Your local game store should have welcome decks available upon request, some may even allow you to bring them home. You’d be better suited cooking up basic mono-colored 60 card piles with playsets of simple game pieces than trying to teach someone on commander
