@cc9932chen@tntsports I think you’ve misunderstood what Mark is doing here. He asked for the review on his opponent’s behalf. He’s trying to see whether he’s comfortable accepting the points that the referee already gave him.
@cc9932chen@tntsports In football, a player would be pressuring the referee to make a decision in their favour. In snooker, Selby has asked the referee to review a decision already made in his favour, so he can be certain he’s not getting an unfair advantage. Different games.
@markball147@IrtenTugba@147Magtr Except it’s literally not within the rules if it’s unsporting. And that’s subjective, sure - I have every respect for Foulds and he thought it was fine. But if a few former world champions say it’s unsporting then there’s a conversation to be had, don’t you think?
@markball147@IrtenTugba@147Magtr Curious if you think Davis is wrong in the clip above btw. If JP had tried to pot the red it was “effectively cheating” according to Steve even though JP claimed he had no shot. Is Steve wrong?
@markball147@IrtenTugba@147Magtr I didn’t say it was, but clearly some people think it is, including Stuart. Steve Davis and Jimmy White said fouling deliberately would be “effectively cheating” / “not very Queensbury like” in this similar incident. But what do they know? https://t.co/BPlbfHZRYL
@markball147@IrtenTugba@147Magtr The number of people who seem to be saying “it benefited him therefore it’s fine” is bizarre. That’s not the question.
Of course he had other options, they were just harder shots. Many would find what he did unsporting - Bingham, for one. Unsporting conduct is against the rules.
@Benzo147@thesnookerhall Unsporting conduct *is* a rule - s4.1. It’s open to debate exactly what “unsporting” means, but it obviously doesn’t mean “do whatever you can to win”.
Pretending you didn’t mean to foul is a clear sign you feel you’ve crossed a line, IMO. There’s no deception in snooker.
@springss@philhaigh_ There’s a lot I don’t agree with, I mourn for the old UK champs, I don’t like the way the ranking=money list can be bought by sponsors. But yeah, the game is in a better state than it would’ve been under anyone else, little doubt.
@philhaigh_ Genuinely must be the best news we’ve had from snooker’s officialdom in decades. Fantastic not just for sentimental reasons but for the future of the game in the UK. I didn’t think the hard-nosed one had it in him.
@RichardLafette@philhaigh_ My guess would be that not all Hearns agreed on this one. Barry I think always hoped Sheffield would contribute just enough to justify keeping it there. The crucible is part of his own story as much as anything. The money would surely have seen it move.
