Contd; Wm (John) Barton, 8/2/2026:
Recalling the morning after the 1st IRA attack, Kesh, Fermanagh. Mr Barton, tho` wounded, milked the cows & his wife, Mildred (school cook) dutifully made the pupils` dinner, after she & children set off on the school bus. Mr Barton died age 96.

Recalling 2 of 3 IRA murder bids on John Barton, Protestant & married father. Farmer, former USC/off duty UDR, shot on his 50 acre border farm/house, near Leitrim & Donegal. Forced to move & sell, the children were unable to take it over. Mr Barton died 8/2/26, a widower, age 96.

#OnThisDay in 1981 the IRA murdered Christopher Kyle, 25, mechanic/off duty RUCR, shot at 5:35 pm near home while returning in his car from work, Carrickmore area of Tyrone and found fatally injured in the car by his father who heard shots #OTD. Funeral at Cappagh Parish Church.
