@BN_Blackhawks Calgary didn’t trade their own 1st round picks for Nemec, they traded a 2027 1st round pick obtained from Vegas and a 2028 1st round pick obtained from Colorado.
@OldTimeHockey_@Chitwn_AJ@Bedard_Haver Is $12.5m per season before Carlsson’s offer sheet really a ridiculous low ball offer for a player who only once exceeded a ppg pace? If reports are accurate and Bedard’s camp was asking for Kaprizov money, you would assume they would meet somewhere in the middle - $15m per year.
@frank_seravalli How many of those European born players were drafted out of the CHL, USHL & NCAA?
North America is increasingly developing European born players reducing the opportunity for North American born players to compete at the higher levels in their own countries.
@Pequods81@HotTakeHockey If we are going to continue to use draft status as a value assessment tool, then the Blackhawks could easily argue Korchinski; selected 7OA; an and 2nd round pick is fair value.
@Pequods81@HotTakeHockey What about Wright’s performance to date in his career warrants a big return? People continue to project his value based on his draft status which isn’t realistic. (1)
@Sherwood_Creek@ivandemigoal Great strategy! When the deadline comes for Carlsson, the Ducks decline to match and take the picks. Then Bedard’s deadline comes; which would be after Carlsson’s; the Hawks match and Anaheim doesn’t have either player… brilliant!
@motleyblkhawks@AlCimaglia Agreed. Hell if the Canucks want to sign Bedard to an offer sheet, the Hawks have to seriously consider taking the picks.
I specifically mentioned Carolina because they have done it in the past and do have their picks.
@motleyblkhawks@AlCimaglia It depends on the team, if Carolina signs Bedard to an offer sheet, the 1st round picks received as compensation are very likely in the 29-32 range, essentially lottery tickets. Not all 1st round picks carry the value.
@mike019mike019@CHIFan9236024 You mean the same guy who just signed off on making Byram the highest paid d-man in the league… I know it was a long time ago… like a week. Easy to forget. 😂
@tamiklockau The problem with that approach is, decision time on whether to match the Carlsson offer comes before the Hawks would have to decide on Bedard. If Chicago matches, the Ducks don’t get Bedard. If Chicago doesn’t match, they get Anaheim’s next four 1st round picks.
