🏈On September 10, 2001, the first ‘Monday Night Football’ game of the 2001 regular season was played at Denver’s brand-new Invesco Field.
During the game, Broncos receiver Ed McCaffrey suffered a season-ending broken leg. Meanwhile, the ABC affiliate in Washington, D.C., ran a crawl reporting that Michael Jordan was all but certain to return to the NBA with the Wizards.
The Broncos beat the Giants 31–20.
The Giants flew back home overnight and landed at Newark around 6 a.m. September 11. Their charter parked next to the gate used by United Flight 93
