🚨🇺🇸 Clint Dempsey Defends Balogun: “That’s a Yellow at Most, Not a Red”
“I’ve watched the replay from every clear angle, and I still don’t see a straight red card. It’s a committed challenge, but I don’t think there’s enough there to send a player off in a World Cup knockout match. Football is a physical game, and not every strong tackle has to end with someone walking down the tunnel.
“VAR is meant to correct clear and obvious mistakes, not magnify every incident until it looks worse than it really is. For me, the referee had the right feel for it on the pitch, and the replay didn’t provide anything convincing enough to overturn that.
“A decision like this completely changes the rhythm of the game. Instead of talking about the football, we’re talking about the officials. I believe the United States have been punished too severely, and I don’t think Folarin Balogun did enough to deserve a straight red. In a match of this magnitude, you’ve got to be absolutely certain before making a decision that could define the outcome.”

It’s been a helluva journey. While I believe there is plenty more to come, the years of disappointment makes it even sweeter. How about those Carolina Hurricanes? @Canes
Hey Caniacs,
Jordan Staal here.... WE GOT IT DONE! This was a season I will never forget. THANK YOU.
I wrote this to remember it all! @PlayersTribune https://t.co/fM2Aod1okV
@FutureCanes@ctlentz I was thrilled with this trade tbh. I’m a Canes fan in NYC so I have watched some Rags games because they’re on. I HATED Morrow’s play in the playoffs last year and was perfectly fine dealing him. I also know we can turn around D men, and Key had all the tools.

I understand the Canes won the cup literally one week ago and the committee had probably just about wrapped up voting. I also think Brian Burke absolutely deserves this.
But if I don’t see that got damn ’ when I see the 2027 hall of fame class we riot
@SusanMo56266341 100% A or C. B is highly unlikely.
I lean C for multiple reasons: 1) finally got a ring. 2) he has to find a new agent to help him figure out A which isn’t easy. 3) repetitive injuries prior to this season. He tweaked his knee in the SCF, and we don’t know how bad.
@realfbllliason If you look back at the Game 2 OT goal, he also jumps when Gostisbehere is passing to Jarvis, selling it to make it look like Gostisbehere is the one shooting. Ehlers has been a perfect addition to this team.
