Coach Brett Bartolone on the development of Sav’ell Smalls.
“Sav’ell does anything you ask him to do, he’s really come a long way. He was put in an uncomfortable situation last year but he’s totally embraced it. We’ve seen growth from last year to this year, shoot we’ve seen growth from spring practice one to where we’re at now.”
i want to give a HUGE shoutout to the job @SavvySmalls_9 has done this season 🦬
while the production hasn’t been off-the-charts (5 catches, 41 yds) his actual contributions to the last few games from a blocking perspective has been outstanding, and it seems like every catch he’s made has been timely and needed
making the move from being a once 5-star edge to the TE position full time is not an easy task at the P4 level, but Sav’ell has taken the challenge and ran with it
cu’s ability to open up the run game and provide an extra blocker in many offensive sets has been a huge differentiator, even other coaches have acknowledged it
remaining flexible and agile offensively will help keep defenses on their toes throughout the remainder of the season, and will prevent CU from stagnating as the season goes on
all the credit to Sav’ell, and we as fans needs to continue to recognize and encourage the guys who contribute, even if it doesn’t directly show up in the stat sheet
