the more I look at this, the more similar he seems to Lau as far as play style (and consequently, the less he seems like Lei Fei). in addition to the obvious stuff like the chokeslam, at 0:37 he seems to approach Cielo with what looks like Lau's kokei stance.
Since this scene was a mix of 2D and 3D animation, it was extremely complex and challenging to make work. I had to make sure all the action timing was prepared in advance. Many people worked incredibly hard to make this possible

"football, like almost everything, is caught between crime and resistance, between authoritarianism and rebellion, between business and play..
So, without any shame, letโs declare that FIFA is a shithole, period.โ

still reeling from how cool this is. it's clear that a ton of love and appreciation for VF and its history went into it. incredible work by @YoheiKoike and congrats on landing such a sweet gig!
Timeline brought up this photo randomly.
There are a handful of people here in this photo that did (and are still doing) great stuff for the scene.
Of course moments like these always happened at Southtown Arcade. Great times๐ฏ
like just look at how cool all that stuff is. I don't know how someone can see all that and go "I think some environment-destroying ripoff machine is a better fit for us."
gotta be honest. seeing so many Virtua Fighter events, streams, videos, etc. use AI-generated filth is really disappointing, especially for a community that has a long history of kick-ass art and graphic design for its events.
@RentalAnimator basically my feeling. I think the game was beginning to revolve too much around sticking to very basic safe options because of how strong ECD was. it does feel a little slow but I think that might be us still getting accustomed. game still feels fast when I watch top players lol
From WORST to FIRST! The Jeffry buffs are REAL ! We've analyzed over 15K VF5 REVO v1.10 matches featuring the new balance changes! Jeffry has the highest win percentage currently, and the largest win percentage increase compared to the previous version! #VirtuAnalytics
RIP Shinichiro Sato, the drummer for The Pillows. Most people know them for their contributions to the FLCL anime, but they were one of the most consistent rock bands in history. 20 studio albums over 30+ years, not one of them bad. Here's four of my favorites.
to clarify I don't think Lei Fei will be more effective than he was in FS or REVO considering the other balance changes and how other characters benefit from the system changes. SEGA keeps making his risk/reward slightly more rewarding but not any less risky, which is annoying.
imo this is the first version of VF5 with a character that's just straight-up bad. good news is they'll probably rebalance again at some point but this isn't enough to bring me out of semi-retirement so have fun y'all.
Mortiis + Wesley Willis at the 1997 โExpo of the Extreme.โ This was one of first times black metal had hit the USA as a serious musical export and Windy City native Wesley was there to inform the church-burners about Rock & roll, Toyota, and McDonaldโs.
