DEFEND HAYA FROM EXPULSION!
TAKE ACTION: https://t.co/aTizAnxw8u
HAYA FACES AN “OPEN SUSPENSION” AND A “TEMPORARY EXCLUSION”.
ALL FOR STANDING AGAINST GENOCIDE ALL FOR CRITICISING MANAGEMENT’S COMPLICITY AND THE STUDENT UNION’S SILENCE AND INACTION!
A graduating SOAS student, Hamza holds a banner in solidarity with second-year student, Haya following SOAS' unjustified expulsion of her due to her Palestine activism against the ongoing genocide in Gaza and forced starvation, as part of her role as Palestine society president.
Haya Adam, a courageous second-year law and international relations student, was unjustly expelled from SOAS, University of London, for her principled stand against the genocide in Gaza. This unprecedented act of repression is a blatant attack on her freedom of speech and the right to protest. SOAS, which claims to champion decolonial values, has betrayed its own principles by punishing Haya for her activism. We stand firmly in solidarity with her, demanding the immediate withdrawal of her expulsion. This shameful decision must be reversed to restore justice and uphold the values of academic freedom and human rights.

#WeAreSOAS@SOAS
Outrageous! SOAS has expelled Haya Adam, President of the Palestine Society, mid-degree for her pro-Palestine activism. This is a direct attack on free speech and student rights. #ReinstateHaya#WeAreSOAS
I was asked by @MuslimMatters to write on the reason for burning my SOAS Masters certificate and asking the university to rescind my degree in support of Haya Adam from @soaslibzone. These are some reflections on my motivations for showing solidarity:

.@SOAS has now expelled Haya Adam, one of its brightest students and a tireless activist against the genocide in Gaza
Absolutely disgraceful decision
The university’s reputation will never recover
This cannot stand. Mobilise to get Haya reinstated
My email this morning to @SOAS formally requesting that they rescind my LLM in Law following the burning of my certificate.
That Haya Adam was expelled for standing up for Palestine, means that I cannot stand to be associated with a university that professed to be decolonial.
@AsimCP@SOAS Dr Asim is on the right side of history and has demonstrated today the power of solidarity in the face of repression. Some things are more important than a degree and those of us at the SLZ choose not to sit idly as our university stands complicit in genocide. #ShameOnSOAS 🇵🇸❤️
In solidarity with Haya Adam from @soaslibzone, I promised I would 🔥 my Masters certificate from @SOAS if she was expelled.
They have chosen to unfairly punish her, so I don’t want to be associated with a uni that markets decoloniality while punishing those who practice it.
We call on @SOAS, to cancel the disciplinary action against its student Haya Adam for taking action to express their solidarity with Palestinian people. Students should not be targeted for doing what universities should be doing - calling Israel's genocide out. Full statement 🧵
