In Citizens United, the Govt argued that it could censor a documentary about a major presidential candidate in an election year, on the theory that—like every other movie you have ever seen on TV, cable, streaming, or in a theater—a corporation was involved in its production or distribution. That cannot be correct, and is why Citizens United is plainly correct. @charlescwcooke@whignewtons
@Wildlaw406 Some of my courts are requiring sworn “AI Affidavits” with each filing where must indicate whether you used AI, how you used it, and what you did to confirm its accuracy. I just assume it’s an auto-disciplinary referral if you sign one of those and then *still* have fake cases.
Hot take: aesthetic injuries are fake and dumb and underpin basically an entire genre of litigation, including absurdities under the endangered species act, just for the fun of it.
Liberal courts when Conservatives sue: "I'm sorry but just because you are literally the injured party, you do not have standing because I don't like your face."
When Liberals sue: "Oh, you're an amateur ornithologist? STANDING GRANTED ON ALL TRUMP LAWSUITS"
Cole is lame, sure. But I’ve never understood this argument that being young is relevant. He’s a pro. There aren’t special rules/treatments based on birth year. People used to do this with Bryce Harper “don’t throw at him HES 19!” Guarantee Harper didn’t want special treatment
The Pittsburgh Pirates have batted under .240 as a team during seven seasons since WWI.
The 1952 team that is recognized as one of the worst in franchise history hit .231 while on their way to a 42-112 record.
The other six times are 2020-2025
@DavidDreil26702 @SimiValleyLoyal Trump literally just fired the head of labor statistics because he didn't like the numbers.
Republicans and their sticking their head in the sand.
@BruceGodfrey@MissEsqHire Either way, probably better this way than if they spun up some nonsense about how they’re all about work life balance, etc. and then 6 months in this candidate has to leave because it’s awful.
@BruceGodfrey@MissEsqHire Maybe. But I don’t think it’s fair to say that without more info. Could just be that it’s a job with a tight group who is upfront and honest about being grinders and they genuinely don’t see this person as a good fit based on the career break. Maybe they’re right, maybe not.
