He was Prime Minister six times. Been in and around government since 1977. When he finally got a mandate through Yahapalanaya, instead of prosecuting crime (which was what the people wanted), he protected his cronies, and when he became President… he did the same.

Set aside that he’s credibly accused of heinous acts at Batalanda, which alone is disqualifying. His supporters already made peace with that... their moral rot is clear and evident.

No one with this past should ever be anywhere near the kind of power the Executive Presidency gives... which was my argument against GR when he was contesting too.

This romanticising of a man who’s failed upwards his entire career, carried by sycophants, insulated by privilege, and forgiven for every betrayal… is frankly laughable.
