@gh0stfaceluvr@bunnimoniOW theres definitely an issue w ppl looking down on girls w cute setups, id nvr deny that, but that doesnt mean every female character needs to b hot + pretty bc "theres never too much rep" y shouldnt we get more variation w women? is it good rep to have all women b skinny and hot?
@bunnimoniOW i feel like this implies that the issue is solely w femininity, + not w misogyny as a whole. yeah, men make fun of fem + cutesy girls, but thats not the only kind of misogyny in gaming spaces. + what abt rep for women who arent super feminine? its too much rep if its the only rep

@LiterallyJunoo i think its a harmless way to reward ppl who DO play that much. obvs it would suck for casual players if it was skins or emotes, but a title? its one of the most minor cosmetics in the game.

@volskayadottxt which i realize is basically what u said lol i just think theyre going even further in that direction and its disappointing snd kinda boring
@volskayadottxt i like overwatchs story and in some ways i think it addresses some of these issues in interesting ways but im not a fan of how sm of the more recent lore seems more abt the "new gen" of overwatch being a bunch of 20yr olds having fun as if it isnt a military organization
@NatomiSana@sleepysimsx idek what ur implying w that but im sure its some bs. but no, i live in america. i just care more abt contributing to a community + making my mod accessible. i dont just see ppl as potential revenue. their support (by simply playing w it) is more than enough
@fusehounds idk how well i articulated this bc i just woke up lmao but tldr i dont want mods to b a transactional relationship, i want my work to be accessible, and i think modders should b in it for the love of the game, essentially
@NatomiSana@sleepysimsx i can know my worth without choosing to participate in a "transaction world." i think it would be sad to reduce a passion of mine to a monetary exchange. i love that ppl enjoy my mod and it would b soulless to make it abt how much money i can get out of them
@Xmiramira@saynotofuckboys@nanamilksims@desertpirate77@grr_gladys do u actually have an interest in discussing this and being open to changing ur mind? u were the one who claimed other communities also paywall mods thru sites like curseforge, which is largely untrue. the sims community is one of the only ones to hav normalized it to this extent
@Xmiramira@saynotofuckboys@nanamilksims@desertpirate77@grr_gladys i just dont really see the issue with people clicking on the videos just to get the mod links. sure it would be nice for ppl to watch it all the way through, but its information you're offering for free. i just dont think the main goal of any of this should be making money
@Xmiramira@saynotofuckboys@nanamilksims@desertpirate77@grr_gladys none of this is killing anyone, but that doesnt mean it cant be criticized. i think its better than outright charging for mods, but i also think anything longer than 5s is kinda ridiculous, esp considering how each mod is so small when it comes to the sims
@Xmiramira@saynotofuckboys@nanamilksims@desertpirate77@grr_gladys im confused about this - is the issue that a youtuber wants ad revenue from their video showcasing different mods? are they making the videos to actually showcase cc they like, or are they doing it to earn easy ad revenue lol
@Xmiramira@saynotofuckboys@nanamilksims@desertpirate77@grr_gladys do the ads have to run before you can download? w curseforge its 5s and w modrinth its immediate. i can see ppl having an issue with sitting thru 30s of ads to download every cc. also curious if its against tumblrs tos to run ads in links
@Xmiramira curseforge (along with modrinth, altho i am not familiar with nexus mods) does not have paid mods. the mods themselves are free. creators get a portion of the ad revenue, which is completely different.
@NatomiSana@sleepysimsx modding should be a hobby and community space where work is volunteered and done out of passion, not monetized. legal issues aside, its just a bad precedent and self centered to monetize mods for ur own benefit, esp when so much of it is based off someone elses volunteered work
