GDPR requires active consent for tracking. Most websites have pre-selected boxes, which is not allowed. What % of users would actively accept tracking to get the supposed benefits of personalization? 50%? 25%?
A new study found it's about ONE FIFTH OF 1%. https://t.co/r2qK5sTaSt
Elsevier claims its the biggest #OA publisher in the world...
That's like McDonalds claiming to be the biggest vegan restaurant because it sells more salads than anyone else. Volume is not an adequate measure of intent or business mission.

I want my remarkable colleagues to be protected, but even more, I want their growth in skills recognized and rewarded. I want the @mitlibraries to be a place where their careers can grow. I think @afscme93 can help us accomplish that and I know that will make #aBetterMIT.
My colleagues at the MIT Libraries started our public organizing campaign for unionization this past week. As library workers we are strongest together. Please support our efforts by signing this petition: https://t.co/B8gn7urzxZ #aBetterMIT
"I hope people will realize that just one reader’s—any reader’s—glorious praise of a book holds incredible value for that title and its author." @librarian_lali on committee membership and her picks for this year's Printz. https://t.co/tOcdpUdfpR

No one in the @mitlibraries wanted to treat me that way. I was one of many term employees managers wanted VERY BADLY to be permanent. But no one in the libraries had the power to change the institute's priorities. That's why we need a union. #JoinUs#a_Better_MIT
Let’s support the 100+ library professionals who are unionizing @mitlibraries by signing this petition calling for MIT to recognize their union @AFSCME93#aBetterMIT @A_Better_MIT #AFSCME93 https://t.co/acDhilByg2

Academic reality check: this field-changing book was produced by a contingent faculty member. Who has no research funds; had to pay out of pocket for expensive images, indexing, etc. Who does everything TT faculty do for 60% of the pay. Who has no year-to-year job security.
