We recently hosted a field day at Mike Larson’s soccer field on the UCSD campus. Turf managers enjoyed visiting vendor booths and watching equipment demos, including the drill and fill aeration machine, autonomous mowers, paint striping, and infield maintenance equipment.

The 36th annual SFMA Conference was held recently in Palm Springs, CA, and it did not disappoint! The four-day national conference offered attendees various classes and seminars, and a trade show to keep them up to date with products and innovations in the industry.

Congrats to Adam Vincej and Isaac Jimenez for receiving this year’s SoCal SFMA scholarship to attend the 2025 SFMA Conference, January 13-16, in Palm Springs, CA. Every year, SoCal SFMA selects a member (or two) from our chapter to receive a scholarship to attend the conference.

Our Chapter enjoyed a tour of the San Diego State athletic fields yesterday, led by Athletic Grounds Lead Cody Beltz. We got a first-hand look into their maintenance practices and got to see the challenges they face day-to-day. Thank you to Cody & his staff for their hospitality!
