@DaleshaGholson @StevaraClark I think a lot of people have felt the same way about the new connection opportunities to has provided to colleagues in the field, I ah w already met speakers through classes I otherwise would not have if not online. #SLWK791
@krolanmsw@StevaraClark I completely agree, it will be interesting to see the changes to our code of ethics as technology moves forward. The challenges will be harder than today but I believe just as we have learned now to maintain boundaries we will adapt to the new additions. #SLWK791
@AkeiyaTucker@StevaraClark I like this suggestion a lot and will even do this as I have not even thought about it as I don’t get on a whole lot anymore. Thanks! #SLWK791
@StevaraClark I think I need to be more consistent in using them to start. I often will hope on and off and by the next time things have already changed. Consistency will help me navigate better and keep myself knowledgeable and therefore know the proper precautions. #SLWK791
@StevaraClark A5: I have been able to stay connected and informed better. I have also learned how to better provide accurate, up to date, and cited information even on social media platforms. It has helped me become a better advocate in my work. #SLWK791
@krolanmsw@bradley_topper@StevaraClark It is strange to see the change in our code of ethics but I am more curious to know how we will update them in the future as technology grows. Will we update every couple of years? Annually? Less? #SLWK791
@JerrontayJ@StevaraClark I agree I think we will be getting many new rules or changes to our practices in order to fit “the new world” otherwise clients won’t be able to find and receive support as easy, leaving us to fail our clients ultimately. #SLWK791
@bradley_topper@StevaraClark That’s a really interesting take I had not thought of yet but you may be right. It would be interesting to see actually implemented into practice. #SLWK791
@AkeiyaTucker@StevaraClark I agree it is a new age. It’ll open up new jobs for workers preferring telework. I do hope though we stick to our NASW codes and maintain our boundaries if it becomes harder. The professional life should still be separate to not confuse clients. #SLWK791
@StevaraClark A3: I think social media will be even more present in social work in the future. Just as it has been in physical health fields, technology is becoming easier for clients to use and it will have to happen to in order to keep up. #SLWK791
@Waksmunski_J @StevaraClark I agree there is an ethical obligation but not all private companies are striving for efficacy. They do have the right but not all are looking for the approval to take into upon themselves to protect its users. If federal law changes they would. #SLWK791
@AkeiyaTucker@StevaraClark I completely agree, federal law also says similarly. Freedom of speech is pretty limitless unless it may incite violence which leads to the question how serious the federal law will take hate speech into account for mandatory censorship. #SLWK791
@StevaraClark A1: #SLWK791 A link for understanding current social media censorship and federal law and the question of it will change https://t.co/7WaTJcwXdC
@StevaraClark A1: It is full within their right to be able to censor certain things and hate speech should be included and is allowed to be. Everyone deserves a safe space and the companies who strive for that will censor hate speech. #SLWK791
@Waksmunski_J @StevaraClark I agree it is a hard question and I answered similarly. I think it always on a case by case basis and weighing the pros and cons of the recommendation based of the clients experience of social media in the past and current distresses
@AkeiyaTucker@StevaraClark I think that is a great idea, especially during Covid-19, I have heard many testimonials of people struggling with addiction specifically who have praised the use of social media to stay connected in this time apart to support each other
