They're basing their assertion that there is "no need" to have an election wholly on the 2019 mandate.
The problem is, the new PM can't have any 'radical' new policies that contradict the 2019 manifesto otherwise the mandate becomes invalid.
Trying to have it both ways.
Both Sunak and Truss are desperate to appeal to the Tory membership...I wouldn't be surprised if either or both of them started calling themselves 'Margaret Thatcher'.๐ฅ
Did that Tory party member say that "no one can accuse the Conservatives of being racist or sexist" because of Sunak and Truss?!?! Must be the gammon mantra...
Those infamous Tory phrases are about to make a big comeback:
"There's no magic money tree!"
"The nation's credit card!"
These final 3 candidates have made it quite clear - they want to "control inflation" with big spending cuts.
Sky News couldn't just 'empty chair' Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak in tonight's cancelled 'debate' as that would leave Penny Mordaunt talking to herself.
Well, that would certainly have been a strange scenario...
Tory candidates keep going on and on with their sob stories.
If there is one candidate with a genuine sob story it is Liz Truss.
Liz Truss spent some of her formative years in Paisley, FFS.๐
It explains a lot. All starting to make sense now...
I genuinely don't think Liz Truss has a clue about economics; or a clue about anything, to be fair. Given that the PM will get to have the final say over major financial decisions it is a little worrying.
