A collective of sociologists in Britain calling on sociologists and professional bodies to use their platforms to stand with Palestinians. [email protected]
We are a collective of sociologists based in Britain standing in solidarity with Palestinians, calling on our colleagues and professional bodies to use their power to speak out. Read and share our statement https://t.co/m2vjE05NGG
We’ve written to @britsoci asking them to take a clear stance on the ongoing Palestinian genocide. This includes supporting an academic boycott of Israel.
Sociologists and BSA members, please share and endorse our letter:

Seeing this fills me with horror & sadness, & makes me think of my colleague @AlaSirriyeh's important piece in @TheSocReview magazine '‘Why are the soldiers hurting Palestinian children?’ Parenthood, identity and culture during genocide'. A must read.

As thousands of us graduated last week, we remember & honour the 90,000 students in Gaza who have been stripped of this opportunity, universities destroyed & displaced, many students killed & injured. We cannot be silent while @LancasterUni remains complicit! 🇵🇸 #FreePalestine
Just as the lies were vomited, just as the congresspeople frequently applauded, an air strike killed six people in my city of Beit Lahia. A school principal I worked with briefly was murdered. His name is Darwish Al-Ghirbawi. He was murdered in front of his house with his son, also a teacher, and other neighbors.
You should be ashamed of inviting a war criminal, of receiving him, of listening to him, and worse of applauding his sheer lies.
I’m angry more than ever.
