This is so true! I'm exploring launching a campaign and if you aren't independently wealthy you have to forego income for an extended period and get a ton of smaller donations from family and friends who also don't have much money.

@KCSportsPoliGuy 100% I tell folks there's 4 ways to be a Kansas state legislator: be independently wealthy, be comfortably retired, be a paid lobbyist, or be someone who makes a huge sacrifice... Lots of reform is needed, but paying a professional salary is critical.
