Ukrainian and European civil society organisations are warning that hedge funds could make billions out of Ukraine. We call for legal protections to ensure speculators cannot demand billions of dollars in payments from the GDP-linked warrants.

.@oleks_kyselov — With a madman in the White House, all pretences have fallen away and raw power again reigns supreme. But if the left acts in a quick and determined manner now, it can help give peace a chance. @SocRuch https://t.co/WEpg72cG10
1/7 There will be no return to "normal" if an unfair deal is imposed on UA. 1st, there’s no slightest guarantee that it would last. 2d, watching a country be crushed and divided by great powers would create a lasting security crisis, making any talk of disarmament meaningless.
There is an urgent need for European countries to radically and rapidly increase their military spending and support for Ukraine. But widening inequalities and sense of injustice among people weaken the legitimacy of democracies. Don't repeat American Democrats' mistakes!
Stanislav and Oleksandr to the progressives in Berlin: virtue-signalling ends when the war arrives & words have real-life outcomes. The left must move beyond slogans, analyse power dynamics & consider long-term consequences to make the right choices in uncertain times!
🧵1/ Spoke in the Berlin Security Forum: In times of instability, the left absolutising peace or justice will seem helpless. The war in UA & its fallout is a key credibility test. While the future is unknown, guiding principles are needed to prepare for all possible scenarios ⬇️
Our Artem Tidva met MEP @jsjostedt in BRU. Pushing a progressive agenda on UA on the left is possible, with direct links playing a key role. Next: hosting politicians, unions & CSOs at the EP this spring & joint efforts to free POWs, tighten RU sanctions, protect UA labour rights
If you lived in Syria, you would know this is such an incredible moment. Try to think of Syrians as human beings, instead of geopolitics, just for a second. Imagine how people are feeling as their disappeared loved ones are being found in prisons, alive.
Protests in GE, sparked by electoral fraud and pro-RU turn, are hindered by a lack of systemic disruption & distrust of mostly neoliberal spokespeople. But as unions, students, and the left start raising their voices too, it all depends on the people's will to organize and fight!
New interview with trade union activist from @SocRuch: "Left groups and trade unions can help us by telling the world about left Ukrainians fighting on the front and organising among workers. This is important because many see left politics as tied to Russia’s imperialism."
While I hear explosions outside my window as Russian drones attack us again, let me show the good example of common sense.
Something is broken in this world since it normalizes evil and sees a threat to resisting it.
Except for the Nordics, none from The Left cared to sponsor the joint motion, which may have influenced the final text. This happens when one mainly cares about painting victims as war-mongers, blaming us for escalation, sabotaging support, and forcing UA to capitulate.
🗳️More military support for Ukraine amid the involvement of China and North Korea
MEPs urge the international community to take swift and decisive action to address the alarming escalation in Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

Achieving a just and lasting peace as a cornerstone! As liberals overlook centrality of people's well-being, social trust, robust institutions, and reserve capacities, 'pacifists' neglect security in the narrower sense. @estrella_galan's proposal could have bridged the gap, but..
When Russia continues to deliberately destroy our energy infrastructure and hold the Zaporizhzhia power plant hostage, ensuring nuclear safety becomes urgent. @MarinaMesure called for exactly this but was voted down. That says everything about the actual commitment in Brussels
Instead of fake doves, listen to those who care enough to actually ask people on the ground about their concerns. Pressure Putin, not us—stop trading with him, for God's sake. Strengthen Ukraine, with arms, diplomatic efforts, grants, and by raising the voices of the unions & CSO
At the plenary session today, we had a debate on the EU’s support to Ukraine. During our visit to Ukraine, everyone emphasized how this winter will be the hardest period since Putin started his war of aggression. That is why our support is so needed now.
To all "peace advocates": it takes more than words to win a negotiation & no agreement is sealed forever, thus, supplying weapons is not prolonging the war! It's not UA's fault that you have to invest in defense, and, speaking from our experience, austerity will not provide such.
In today's debates MEP Demirel reached a new low: once wishful thinking is now outright gaslighting. Putin arbitrarily & unilaterally began this war. It hardly takes a talk to make him give up. While weapons alone might not do the thing either, without them Ukraine is doomed.
Best of luck to @CllrJohnLyons in Dublin Bay North Constituency. John is a member of Irish Left With Ukraine and an active supporter for #solidarity with #Ukraine Who else should we give a shout out to?
Are there other Left Supporters for Ukraine standing in the election?
