Tuesday was expectedly a long day for me, but the full-throated public solidarity, sparked by my employer while I was disconnected from any personal communication channel, made it rewarding.

We followed adverts written in white paint and vacancy posters inviting job seekers to apply for informal roles across Lagos.
We didn't end up at interviews. Those waiting for us at the venues subjected us to many hours of brainwashing and unethical hiring tactics for NEOLIFE.👇🏾
Boluwatife Joseph Otabor, a second-year History undergraduate student at LASU, was on his way to church when armed robbers shot him on May 29.
Students tried crowdfunding to help pay his hospital bills. They accused their school of only helping out after Otabor died on June 2.👇🏾
Vivian Chilaka, an award-winning National Diploma student at College of Nursing Sciences Alor (CONSALOR) in Anambra State, was murdered in her apartment in the early hours of Sunday.
Chilaka bled out after receiving multiple stab wounds. She might have known her killer.👇🏾
The Senate has managed to fulfil only nine, compromise on 12 and break 13 of the 34 promises it made to Nigerians at the start of the 10th National Assembly.
It has less than a year to come good on the promises it made in its Legislative Agenda.👇🏾
Across Lagos State, many vague wall adverts and black-and-white vacancy posters invite job seekers to apply for informal roles.
@fijnigeria’s Opeyemi Lawal and Oluwafemi Olabode followed the trail of these posters in metropolitan Lagos, and it led them to one deceitful scheme.👇🏾
Famuyiwa Matthew, a prosecutor with the Ogun State Police Command, has been accused of tampering with and removing crucial evidence from a criminal case of assault.
Matthew's failure to present crucial evidence that was available denied the victim of a violent crime justice.👇🏾
Adetunji Babatunde, a man who was arrested on Thursday by officers from the Police Response Unit of the Osun State Police Command, was forced to pay N70,000 before he could be released.
Babatunde committed no crime and the police couldn't prove that he was involved in any.👇🏾
Operatives from Isokoko Police Station in Agege have been accused of burning down a couple's property worth N9.9 million at Oke Koto in Agege, Lagos State, while chasing some suspects in May.
Five weeks on, the police says it has nothing, and the LG offers only N200,000.👇🏾
FIJ found, however, that this significant contruction is being handled by an interior decorator and the shoddy nature of the job done so far is hard to miss. My latest story on FIJ👇

Yesterday, we hosted delegates from the National Human Rights Commission (@NhrcNigeria) at our Abuja office for an engagement on advancing press freedom, human rights, and the protection of journalists.
Discussions focused on shared objectives in strengthening coordination on the documentation and reporting of press freedom violations, improving safe and accessible mechanisms for journalists to report violations, and deepening public awareness on safeguarding civic space and democratic freedoms.
We look forward to doing work with our partners at @NhrcNigeria as we collectively advance efforts to safeguard press freedom, uphold human rights, and strengthen democracy in West Africa.

A Federal High Court in Lagos has declared the National Assembly's N110 billion vehicle and allowance schemes for lawmakers unlawful.

Dotun Oloyede, the managing director of real estate and investment company Rolad Properties, issued a farmer a N11.8 million cheque in August 2025 that was rejected as a 'fake' at the bank.

In 2022, the Ogun State Waste Management Authority said that the open dumpsite at Oja Agbe, Ifo, was “illegal”.
Four years on, the state and local governments in charge have done nothing to tackle the problem as residents live, trade and eat next to an environmental time bomb.👇🏾
The Federal Ministry of Police Affairs allocated N35.7 million for website management in the 2025 budget.
Yet, @fijnigeria has found hat the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate, a security layer, on the website has expired since May 2, and the ministry has failed to renew it.👇🏾
When Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration demolished houses and destroyed the means of livelihood of residents to make way for the expansion of Odo-Ori Road in Iwo into a dual carriageway in 2025, it assured affected residents of compensation.
One year later, @fijnigeria gathered that some of those affected had received paltry sums as compensation, while others only got promises.👇🏾

I discovered there is an underground network where misinformation are weaponised to promote prostitution, exploit and traffic women.

A black market of people with access to government-regulated databases is secretly selling access for as little as N500. For a token, anyone can weaponise your NIN/BVN.
@fijnigeria's investigation puts names and faces to some of these people. 👇🏾
