The Little Mermaid is about accepting your differences because trying to pretend you’re something else is only going to cause you pain in the long run. It might be easier to try to fit in now but you are losing a part of yourself and your identity #PaigeADay 16

Perhaps we focus so greatly on the struggle because it leads to an achievement. Most of the time those achievements are something that can’t be taken away from you, while people can. Struggle is a way to get to something that is seen as a sort of control in life #PaigeADay 15

Helena’s monologue when she finds out Hermia has betrayed her beautiful shows her train of thought and take you with her as she navigates her feelings of confusion, sadness, and anger. It on its own can tell such a powerful story #PaigeADay 14

However, in the same vein, we want bliss and happiness in our lives but that’s harder to create art from. Happiness is extremely uneventful while struggle is filled with drama #PaigeADay 13

Struggling is often present in these stories (and mostly associated with the “good” side) because we tend to not only romanticize struggle but we focus on it as a testament to our greatness and what we are able to over come #PaigeADay (12)

Bluebeard is one of my favorite fairy tales as the moral lesson is ambiguous and it’s merits can be greatly debated. To me it was always come across as more of an observational lesson about humans. #PaigeADay 11

@hojung_ryu @yidong_s Well there is also the fact that these stories were originally told orally. If you aren’t able to check yourself you will ultimately forget as aspect that you mentioned earlier or perhaps even change directions of the story all together.

The queen’s obsession with beauty, while also coming across as incredibly shallow, reminds me of The Prince by Machiavelli. The queen’s beauty is a way for her to be envied, perhaps almost feared, by her people (9) #PaigeADay
