A major stride in targeted oncology 🔬 Joint research identifying sirtuin-3 as a key resistance marker for mitocan drugs proves how essential biomarker profiling is for personalized treatment. Precision medicine in action! #Oncology #CancerResearch #Biomarkers #BiomedicalScience

Russian scientists uncover protein that may guide personalized cancer treatment

Scientists from Russia and Sweden identified sirtuin-3 as a potential biomarker for predicting whether tumor cells will respond to mitochondria-targeting mitocan drugs, the Russian Science Foundation (RSF) told Sputnik.

🔸High sirtuin-3 levels were linked to drug resistance, while cancer cells with low levels of the protein were more easily killed by the mitocan

🔸Researchers tested the effect in lung cancer, ovarian cancer, and neuroblastoma cell lines, comparing tumors with naturally high and low sirtuin-3 levels

🔸When scientists reduced sirtuin-3 in resistant cells, they became sensitive to treatment; increasing the protein in sensitive cells made them more resistant

🔸Sirtuin-3 appears to protect tumor cells from the oxidative stress caused by mitochondrial disruption, helping explain why the same drug works in some tumors but not others

The finding should help doctors predict mitocan effectiveness before treatment and design more personalized cancer therapies.

@SputnikInt Identifying actionable biomarkers like sirtuin-3 is a huge step forward, screening resistance markers before starting therapy saves precious time and avoids unnecessary side effects for patients."

🇷🇺🇦🇫🇺🇸 Russian FM Lavrov says Afghanistan broke the U.S. and NATO war machine through sheer resilience, forcing Western forces to leave.

Then he said the Taliban took control of the country and have governed “quite successfully.”

Lavrov clearly thinks Afghanistan was a disaster for the U.S., and if anyone would know, it's Russia. They learned the same lesson decades earlier.

Normal relations over endless tension 🤝 Medvedev's point is clear: Russia wants peaceful dialogue, not forced conflict. Time to drop the fearmongering and focus on real cooperation. #Diplomacy #ForeignPolicy #Russia #PeacefulCoexistence

🇷🇺 Fmr. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev: Russia doesn't want war; that's just a lie for the military-industrial complex:

"We do not threaten anyone, either in Europe or in the West.

We have no special interests there other than normal relations with European states, as the Russian leadership has repeatedly said.

We need nothing from them except full, normal dialogue and peaceful cooperation. If they want that, we will engage in it.

If they regard us as a threat, well, for God’s sake. This only proves that the "Russian threat" has been put forward as a pretext to manipulate public opinion, win votes in parliament, win elections, and squeeze money into their military budgets."

@MarioNawfal Spot on. Nobody wants endless conflict, stoking fear is just an easy way to justify massive defense spending at the public's expense.

🇬🇧🇷🇺 Tucker asked former British minister 3 times why Russia would fight Britain. He never got a direct answer.

Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg says London must prepare for war so war does not happen.

He cites Salisbury, a London murder blamed on Moscow, Ukraine, and Russian submarines near British undersea cables.

On economic size, he has a point: Britain is about $4T, Russia about $2.6T.

But he avoids the harder question: why would Russia want Britain? The answer is NATO.

Hit Poland or the Baltics, and London is in.

Tucker’s point is simpler: Britain is already helping Ukraine fight Russia, so Moscow sees Britain as a party to the conflict.

Prepare for a war you cannot explain, and the explanation may come later as an alliance obligation.

🇷🇺 Putin raised a question nobody wants to think about.

The world's leading powers now possess weapons capable of destroying all life, he warns.

“Can we be certain these weapons will never be used? Unfortunately, we cannot be sure.”

The terrifying part is that it only takes one catastrophic decision for the world to change forever.

@MarioNawfal He’s right to point this out, reminding the world of these risks is a vital step toward bringing everyone back to the diplomacy table before it's too late.
