God is far more interested in developing that relationship with you than He is in giving you a concrete, detailed blueprint for your life. That's precisely why God isn't in the habit of giving blueprints. It's because God wants us to constantly lean into a relationship with Him.
Perhaps our hearts feel empty and our souls are dissatisfied because we, like a tourist family, are content to park at the first sign and not continue on to our ultimate destination.
Keep driving. In the Lord, you will find true beauty - the kind that really does satisfy.
A disciplined person inserts good habits into their schedule, repeating them over and over again even when they don't feel like it. For the Christian, there are many spiritual disciplines: spending time in prayer, reading the Scriptures, attending church, participating in a small group, giving generously of your time and money, and more.
Our biggest problem isn't that we don't love our spouse or our child or our parent or our sibling enough. Our most significant struggle is that we don't surrender to God enough. When we fail to surrender to God as we should, then we won't love the people in our family in the way that he calls us to love.
So much for the *blessing* of wealth.
“King Solomon loved many foreign women, along with the daughter of Pharaoh: Moabite, Ammonite, Edomite, Sidonian, and Hittite women, from the nations concerning which the Lord had said to the people of Israel, ‘You shall not enter into marriage with them.’” 1 Kings 11:1–2
Science says we need four basic elements to survive:
- Food
- Water
- Air
- Light
Now here's what Jesus says:
- I am the bread of life
- I am the living water
- I am the breath of life
- I am the light of the world
Science was right, we all need Jesus.
Listen, many of us need a Jethro in our lives to warn us not to live and work beyond our God-designed limits, to warn us not to live and work beyond our God-designed limits. And what does Moses then do? He then appoints chiefs to be judges over the people, so he didn't have to deal with everything and everyone on his own. There is only one Messiah, and it's not you, and it's not me!
Our limits have been designed by God for our good. Those limits were set at creation. To ignore or deny them will never take you anywhere good. God calls us to live within our limits and then trust him to provide what is needed for the places where we are unable!

Jonah 4:1 – “But it [God’s mercy towards Nineveh] displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry.”
Jonah was disappointed because God extended mercy to those whom he thought deserved condemnation.
Here’s the irony of Jonah’s disappointment: the very same mercy that he wanted withheld from Nineveh is the same mercy that kept him alive.
Christ's reign is not just your future hope; it is your hope, right here, right now. Yes, you serve a risen Savior, but it’s vital to remember that he is also a conquering King.
Had Jesus come with a sword to destroy all evil--there would have been no one left afterwards. Instead he came not with a sword in his hands, but with nails in his hands. He came not to bring judgment but to bear it.
On this date in 1748, a slave-trader was converted on the Atlantic Ocean.
Near the end of his life, John Newton said: “Although my memory is fading, I remember two things very clearly: I am a great sinner and Christ is a great Savior.”
Thank God for amazing grace.
I don't know about you, but I find that during phases of spiritual dehydration, the night is the hardest part of the day. It's probably because I don't have any activities to distract my brain; I'm forced to lie in bed and think about all the different elements that are contributing to my depression.
What should you do during these long and restless nights? The Psalmist tells us - sing!
Do you not know that Christ does not come merely to blot out the past, he comes to save us from being what we are, to save us from a bad temper, from a proud eye, from a wanton look, from a corrupt heart, from covetous desires, from a rebellious will, and an indolent spirit.
