My sister humiliated my 14-year-old daughter over a $180 birthday gift, laughed at her in front of family, and said, "That’s embarrassing. Don’t bother." She thought I would stay quiet—until she discovered the birthday dinner she spent months bragging about was gone. My daughter Elara did not buy me an expensive gift. She bought me something priceless.
Okay, now let’s REALLY get psychological. 👀
Because somebody asked about attachment styles and BDSM archetypes.
And yes, there are some interesting associations in the research.
But let me say this first:
Your BDSM role does NOT determine your attachment style.
A sub isn’t automatically anxious.
A Dom isn’t automatically avoidant.
And being kinky is not evidence that somebody has attachment issues.
BUT…
The way you seek intimacy can sometimes overlap with the way you play with power. 1/5
I worked as a night orderly in an old psychiatric hospital.
There was one patient I was never assigned to.
Room 8.
His name was Daniel.
He had been there for years.
He never spoke.
He never caused trouble.
He just sat on his bed and stared at the wall.
One night, his nurse called in sick.
My supervisor asked me to bring Daniel his medication.
I unlocked the door.
Daniel was sitting exactly where he always sat.
I placed the medication on the table.
Before I could leave, he spoke.
I worked at a movie theater one summer and one night my coworkers convinced me to stay after closing for a horror movie marathon. Bad idea. We made popcorn, turned off all the lights, locked the lobby and started watching old horror movies on the biggest screen in the building. Everything was fine until someone suggested we watch the one movie nobody wanted to watch because it was supposedly “actually disturbing.” We put it on anyway. About halfway through, the power went out. Complete darkness. Nobody moved..Then something slammed against the back doors. One of my coworkers immediately started whispering prayers even though he’d spent the entire night making fun of everyone for being scared. Another guy grabbed a broom and started slowly walking toward the noise like he was about to fight whatever was outside. I was sitting behind the concession stand trying not to breathe. The doors slammed again. Then we heard footsteps. They were getting closer. Nobody wanted to turn on their phone flashlight because apparently that would “give away our position.” So we just sat there in total darkness listening to somebody walk around the lobby. Eventually I got brave enough to crawl behind the counter and peek over it. There was a guy standing in the middle of the theater. I almost screamed. Then he turned around. It was the fucking manager. He had come back because he forgot his car keys. We all just stared at him. He stared at us. Then he looked at the broom in my coworker’s hands and asked why the hell we were still in the building. We explained everything. He told us the power had gone out because someone outside hit a transformer. Then he made us clean the entire theater before leaving. We spent the next two hours picking popcorn off the floor while the horror movie kept replaying every time the backup generator kicked in. Honestly, I think getting murdered would’ve been less embarrassing.
life tip: stop waiting for someone to become different before you give yourself permission to choose yourself. you don’t need them to change, apologize, betray you again, or hurt you worse before you decide you’ve had enough.
My daughter came home from school without her jacket three days in the same week. First time she said she’d forgotten it. Second time she said it was in her locker. By Friday I was irritated. It was 41 degrees outside. I told her we weren’t buying another jacket if she lost this one. That’s when she started crying. She hadn’t lost it. There was a girl in her class who waited almost forty minutes every afternoon for her older brother to pick her up.
Me: could you pls get me some blunts.I need to get highly motivated?
She: anything for you my love.
(and it ends on happy ending......)
I love my babe mhen she's all I get. Stay with me from now and forever.
The dumbest why a coworker got fired story: a hotel guest said her Mac Makeup went missing. This was 2016/2017, well they asked the girl who was assigned to her room about it. She said nope, welp the girl wore the makeup to work rhe next day…. They also found the makeup in her locker in the same makeup bag the woman had it in…
One of the most painful parts of being autistic is watching people slowly leave your life because they don't understand you or don't want to.
eventually, you stop expecting people to stay, and that's the hardest part.
