Want to try it?
In Codex CLI or IDE extension, start with /goal:
/goal Create a simple todo app where I can add tasks, mark them as done, and delete them. Stop when the app works in the browser and the main flows have been tested.
Oddly, I don’t see it in the macOS app yet.
OpenAI just released Goal mode for Codex.
You define an outcome and success criteria, then let Codex keep working toward that goal.
I tested what this changes for a product layer above coding agents.
My takeaway:
The future is not just better prompts.
It is better control systems around agents.
Agents need to know when to build, ask, validate, benchmark alternatives, and stop.
That is the product layer above Codex I’m exploring.
@OpenAI I tested Goal mode across UI changes, feature work, product ambiguity, and technical experiments.
Early takeaway: Goal is strongest with clear outcomes and measurable success criteria.
The bigger question: when should agents build, ask, validate, benchmark, or stop?
I’ll share screenshots/video soon.
Curious: how are you handling AI dev handoffs today?
New chat + summary? HANDOVER.md? OpenClaw/Hermes-style agents?
And is your product context deterministic state, or mostly text the LLM has to reread?
A lot of AI-assisted development still looks like this:
chat until the context window gets full,
ask the model to summarize,
paste the summary into a new thread,
hope the product intent survived the handoff.
That’s what I’ve started building:
a local product operating layer where a human PM owns vision and roadmap, an agent PO turns that into ready work, and coding agents execute scoped stories.
Built a simple whiteboard app for when you need to sketch out an idea.
9 kr once. No ads, no subscriptions, no bullsh*t. Just draw, explain, share.
Sometimes simple is better.

When can you say that you’ve created a song, how much AI is allowed? I made an ambitious experiment to explore not just what AI can do, but what it means for creativity and authorship. Would love to hear your thoughts. https://t.co/yyLFHGQjP7 #music#ai#genai
