Following extensive consultations with participating schools, the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Ministry of Health, and other key stakeholders, the Science Olympiad Foundation Uganda has taken the difficult decision to postpone the 2026 Uganda National Science Olympiad until further notice.
The decision has been necessitated by ongoing public health considerations arising from the current Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak and the advice received from the relevant authorities regarding large multi-institutional gatherings involving participants from diverse regions of the country.
To every student who has spent late nights refining research papers, every teacher who has guided a team, every parent who has offered support, and every school that has believed in this vision: thank you.
Your efforts have not been wasted.
The research has been done. The ideas have been created. The skills have been developed. The Hive remains alive.
The UNSO 2026 is simply postponed, not cancelled.
And when conditions allow, we shall reconvene - stronger, safer, and more determined than ever to celebrate the brilliance of Uganda's young scientists.
Until then, we encourage all members of our community to remain informed, stay safe, support one another, and continue nurturing the spirit of scientific inquiry that lies at the heart of this Olympiad.
The Hive is pausing. But the Hive of Possibility endures.
