I was in Eruku on the 24th and the 25th of December to document Christmas in the aftermath of a horrific attack. The essay and photos appear in the latest issue of @thecontinent_. Do read and share.
The night before Christmas was indeed a silent one in Eruku. As other parts of Nigeria enjoyed Christmas Eve service and Detty December concerts, the town lay under a heavy quiet, broken only by hushed conversation and the occasional moving vehicle. https://t.co/34skzJDxfD
Which was the entire point of the US establishment putting millions of dollars behind Omoyele Sowore for all these decades.
His job is to prevent revolution in Nigeria by branding it with his image and making "revolution" synonymous with "orange beret and online fatherless behaviour."
It is for the same reason that as big as Nigeria is, it has no meaningful socialist movement or political party (the biggest country in the world to not have any sort of recognised frontline leftist movement).
The well-funded Sowore operation has co-opted the language and optics of leftist revolutions, and polluted the very word "revolution" so that when you think of that word as a Nigerian, what comes to your mind is this orange-clad assclown with his small congregation of fatherless teenage boys who move online like The Lord's Chosen Charismatic people.
That's why at the first sign of any kind of civil disobedience or general struggle in Nigeria, Sowore and his orange people immediately go to work to insert themselves at the front of it - because they know that the moment any such movement appears on newspaper front pages with a picture of the orange beret people is the moment 90% of the audience loses interest. Even better if they can brand the entire movement beforehand by printing fliers and fixing dates and venues for protests - that is how to comprehensively subvert and kill public movements.
Once again, I cannot stress this enough - the US establishment does not give people millions of dollars for free. If someone's 7-figure USD cheques are signed by Omidyar Network, Ford Foundation, MacArthur Foundation and other US secret intelligence front entities, THAT PERSON WORKS FOR THE US GOVERNMENT.
Omoyele Sowore's job is to PREVENT revolution, not to contribute to one!
Watching so many journalist colleagues look the other way while people in our own industry are treated like this is honestly making me lose respect by the minute.
You have my full support @tomyarguelles
the lord's chosen might be comical (we are within our rights to clown their cult-like theatrics), however these institutions (including Odumeje's church) that ignite within Nigerians excess mockery, are not as dangerous as the 'aesthetic' anti-vax ministry of, say, christ embassy
@Lanredeola@YinkaTinuade@blackveron But NPFL is a professional league nau. Oboabona and Sunday Mba are recent examples. They both were NPFL players yet they contributed to our last AFCON win.
Data compiled and analysed by PREMIUM TIMES shows that the mass school abduction crisis has worsened under President Tinubu.
Although his administration will mark three years in office on 29 May, it has already recorded at least nine mass school kidnapping incidents

This would be a sound explanation if all foreign nationals got this treatment. But, for whatever reason, it’s only reserved for the Africans in their country.

This is what Bolivia's highways look like at the moment.
Each town & village blocks their stretch, and the union members in each community take turns at the barricades. This is part of the general strike against neoliberalism. Now entering week 3.
Watch the moment the husband of Mrs. Rachael Alamu, the principal abducted by bandits in Ogbomoso, breaks down in tears while pleading with Governor Seyi Makinde, who visited Oriire LG, to hasten the rescue operation for his wife and others.
Suspected bandits have reportedly invaded the Yashikira community in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State early this morning, setting the Emir’s palace ablaze and abducting several residents, including women and children.
It was gathered that the attack occurred late at night when the heavily armed assailants stormed the community, firing sporadically.

Yup. The kidnapping happened before the Oyo kidnappings. And the age range of a majority of the kids kidnapped is between 2-5 years old. They kidnapped TODDLERS.
An important rule of thumb. If a revolt is a genuine revolt for the people, to increase the power of the people, global media will ignore and suppress it.
If a revolt is organised and funded by US imperialism to overthrow an inconvenient or opposing govt, it will be everywhere.
Bro I cannot stop thinking about Cuba. an absolute giant of history, theyve done SO much for the whole world - Apartheid only fell in South Africa because Cuban troops went to fight the fascists in Angola!!! - and now they're abandoned, being strangled in front of us
