Everywhere you look, people are scrolling. In buses, trains, cabs, offices, traffic signals, while eating, before sleeping, and the moment they wake up. Reels have become the background noise of our lives.
And the saddest part is our children.
Many kids today won’t eat without a phone in front of them. They cry for reels, laugh at shorts, and grow up staring at screens instead of people, books, nature, and real life. We are handing them addiction in the name of entertainment.
AI is making this even more dangerous. Algorithms know what we like, what we fear, what keeps us watching. AI-generated videos, fake influencers, deepfakes, and endless personalized content are slowly trapping people inside a world that never stops feeding them distraction.
This is not just entertainment anymore. This is stealing our attention, our peace, our thinking, and our future.
When a country’s children cannot focus, when its youth are lost in endless scrolling, and when adults are too tired and distracted to think deeply, how will that country grow?
Social media addiction is not a small issue. It is a silent epidemic. India must wake up before our minds become the price we pay for cheap data, endless reels, and uncontrolled AI.

Maharashtra goes digital for government publications.

The Maharashtra Government has approved the development of an "Online & Counter Book Store" to enable citizens to purchase official government publications online and have them delivered to their homes.

The initiative is part of the modernization of government libraries under the Directorate of Government Printing, Stationery and Publications.

What's changing?

📚 Citizens will no longer need to visit government libraries in person to purchase gazettes, reports, manuals, rules, acts and other official publications.

💻 A dedicated portal, https://t.co/IAuk3uVBQF, will be launched to facilitate online ordering and payment.

📦 Publications ordered online will be delivered across India through India Post, with postal charges calculated based on the weight of the books and delivery distance.

How will it work?

• Initially, the Mumbai Government Library will offer:

Online book sales (within India)
Counter sales
Exhibition sales

• Government libraries in Pune, Kolhapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Nagpur will continue with counter and exhibition sales through the same platform in the first phase.

• The web application has been developed by MahaIT, which will also provide 24x7 operational support.

• Payments made by citizens will be credited online, while postage charges collected from buyers will be paid to India Post based on monthly billing.

Why this matters

For decades, access to official Maharashtra Government publications largely depended on physical visits to government libraries or book exhibitions. This initiative digitises the entire purchase process, making government documents significantly more accessible for:

• Lawyers
• Chartered Accountants
• Students and researchers
• Journalists
• RTI activists
• Civil service aspirants
• Urban planners
• Architects
• Businesses
• Ordinary citizens seeking government rules, notifications and publications
The move aligns Maharashtra's publication distribution system with modern e-commerce practices, improving transparency, accessibility and ease of access to official government literature.

If implemented effectively, it could become a one-stop digital repository and marketplace for official Maharashtra Government publications, reducing dependence on physical counters while expanding public access across the country.

Under the IBC framework in India, equity shareholders are considered the "owners" of the business and are last in line to get paid. The priority for distributing funds from the winning resolution applicant is strictly regulated

Secured Creditors: Banks and financial institutions.

Operational & Unsecured Creditors: Employees, vendors, government dues, and unsecured lenders.

Equity Shareholders: You are last. If the company's debts exceed the value of its assets, the resolution amount won't even cover the lenders. Therefore, the liquidation value for your shares is determined to be ₹0

I learnt a long time ago that there is a big difference between making a living and making a life. In the times to come, AI will get increasingly better at the skills that we've used to make a living. Our imperative will be to instead make lives. Not artificial lives. Or artificial lives. But our own lives and of those we love. As machines get better at answering, and solving what they are asked, our work is to get better at asking, at making, creating, and deciding which questions are worth a life, and refusing to outsource that.
