@romero_mau69771@BIG_SGT_D@5Solas It was a synagogue, they definitely had the OT texts
What Paul was teaching about Jesus was definitely not what they expected from the Messiah based on what was being taught in synagogues
If the Jewish leaders could interpret wrong, why wouldn’t the Orthos be able to misinterpret
@romero_mau69771@BIG_SGT_D@5Solas And Protestants use those 3 verses today to choose Pastors and Deacons. Again there are huge leaps taken to get to the theology of Apostolic Succession.
@romero_mau69771@BIG_SGT_D@5Solas Well I still believe in authority without the church. Protestant churches still have an authoritative hierarchy. I’d say the difference is where that authority ranks, equal to Scripture or less than. Don’t you think we should test the teacher using the Bible?
@romero_mau69771@BIG_SGT_D@5Solas The Bible is the authoritative successor of the Apostles. And Christians, like you and I, continue the work of the Apostles’ ministry. We don’t hold the same authority as them but we have the Scriptures which hold the authority
@romero_mau69771@BIG_SGT_D@5Solas That the spiritual authority of the Apostles has been passed down in an unbroken chain to today. Paul establishing an overseer of a church doesn’t give that overseer the same authority of the Apostles. That’s an illogical leap.
