Followers of Indian PM Modi’s Hindutva Extremism Celebrate Charlie Kirk’s Assassination as “Revenge”:

Sikh Human Rights Group Stands in Solidarity With Kirk’s Family

New York, September 12, 2025: Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), a US-based Sikh human rights group, stands in solidarity with the family of Charlie Kirk. SFJ condemns his assassination as an attack on the First Amendment and on America’s tradition of free speech.

“The killing of Charlie Kirk was political violence for dissenting political opinion. When free speech is answered with a gun, democracy itself is under direct attack,” stated Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, SFJ General Counsel.

In the hours after the killing, followers of Modi’s violent Hindutva ideology openly celebrated on social media, calling it “revenge” for Charlie Kirk’s posts exposing Indian government influence operations and questioning attempts to undercut President Trump’s tariffs.

“By celebrating Charlie Kirk’s assassination, Modi’s followers are doing two things: first, justifying the killing of Kirk for his dissenting political opinion; second, exemplifying and weaponizing assassination as a tool to silence dissent,” added Pannun.

The same Hindutva networks have now threatened that “Next stop — Pannun” for leading the political campaign to liberate Punjab from Indian occupation.

“Political violence to settle dissenting opinions reminds us that democracy must be defended through ballots, not bullets.”

Pannun further stated:
“Indian Prime Minister Modi’s Hindutva ideology thrives on political violence and repression, while Sikhs uphold freedom of expression, voting, and balloting — as demonstrated by our pursuit of the right to self-determination through the Khalistan Referendum.”

America must recognize this foreign footprint: imported political terror, plotted abroad, celebrated online, and now Modi’s India plotting assassinations in America.

SFJ General Counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a US citizen, was himself the target of a murder-for-hire plot orchestrated at the behest of Indian Prime Minister Modi’s government. U.S. federal prosecutors have charged Indian agents and their proxies in connection with that conspiracy, underscoring the danger posed by Modi’s transnational repression networks.
