Hey fellow pastors—it’s important to be clear that the MacArther thing was gossip and slander carried out in public.
Those who laughed and cheered or lol’ed on Twitter are guilty of that “heartily approval” of sin thing in Rom 1:32.
“The wedding garment in the parable of the wedding feast (Matt 22) is the righteousness of Christ worked out in your life in sanctification by the Spirit.”@alex_solacity
Six keys to killing sexual sin:
1. Avoid (Romans 13:14).
2. Say no (James 4:7).
3. Turn to Christ (2 Corinthians 3:18).
4. Hold on to superior promises (Hebrews 12:1–2).
5. Enjoy Christ (Psalm 90:14).
6. Move on to more useful activities (Romans 12:11).
@alex_solacity charged our church to join him in reading Isaiah this Christmas. If you are interested in doing so, here is a great reading plan to guide you! #IsaiahChristmas
What happens when @MikeCosper dares to quote Richard Rohr in front of one of the editors of @TGC? [In all seriousness, this conversation is fun, expansive, and worth a download + subscribe.] Enjoy! https://t.co/yvVeWUesBp
Maybe “Making Disciples” for you this week is getting up with your wife to read Scripture and pray together before the kids wake up.If you have young kids, you will have washed the word over your wife who is about to go to battle in the trenches by taking care of the kids all day
Maybe “Making Disciples” for you this week can be as easy as walking across the street and taking your neighbors cookies - introducing yourself for the first time. You’d be surprised by the door that could open up for you to share about Jesus.
Maybe “Making Disciples” for you this week is taking a walk in your neighborhood and praying that God would open up an opportunity for you to share with one of your neighbors. Jesus is eager to answer that prayer!!
Pastors need to be aware of the emotional realities going on in individuals, know enough about medical realities to see how they fit into the big picture, and theologically aware enough to be able to apply the Gospel to hearts in light of all of these realities.
How damaging is it to an individual who genuinely wants to repent of their sin but the counsel they receive is “you need to trust in Jesus more?” Though we want to be Gospel-centered opposed to “works,” it is totally okay to offer practical ways to fight sin, forgive, etc.
