ariana grande’s upcoming album “petal” is being described as a dark pop album.
exploring genres such as dream-pop, indie, hip-hop and slow ballads.
“it’s like a funeral for all the previous eras”.
South Korea's youth are openly stating that they will wait for #NewJeans to return.
The #SNU (Seoul National University) just published five cover stories back-to-back, dedicated entirely to protecting and defending NewJeans.
The student journal at Seoul National University featured this special edition in print and right on their website's main cover page. They started with their very first article, and the title says it all: 'This is all because there are no new songs from NewJeans.'
Inside, the writer states that 'NewJeans' songs are like postcards. Whenever I sing along to their songs, I return to the moment I first encountered them.' 🥹❤️
The article points out how the media spends all its time talking about stock prices and legal disputes, while completely ignoring the human hearts of the five members. They wanted this whole edition to look at everything purely from NewJeans' perspective.
From there, they named every single article after a track from their debut era.
1. In 'Attention', they break down how a company structure meant to protect creative freedom ended up breaking it apart because of corporate greed and internal power struggles.
2. In 'Hype Boy', subtitled 'Because rainbows aren't eternal,' they talk about how sad it is when corporate interference ruins the natural, nostalgic magic the group brought to the industry.
3. In 'Cookie', they criticize an industry that treats pure creative talent as just a mass-produced product to be shelved or locked away whenever a corporate board feels like it
4. But it's the final feature, 'Hurt: Waiting for 5 Girls', that hurts the most to read . It talks about the unequal fight between five young artists and a massive legal system built to protect corporations instead of human being. They wrote, "Because no one else could speak on their behalf, they willingly chose to bear the burden with their own voices", stating how lonely and scared the members must've felt, for them to just take all the burden and stand up for themselves because no one will give them a voice or stand up for them...
What warms my heart the most, though, is how the writer brings it all together at the end. Despite the corporate freeze, they make it clear that the youth of Korea are still standing right by them, waiting for the girls to return
I really hope the members come across this. With all the media play that has affected them, this is a piece written purely from the public's heart. ❤️
