@C_Reilly5 I’m with you about having enough after 11 holes and not wanting to spend most of the day at the course. Switched to 9 holes which seems weird to some but much more enjoyable and back home in a couple of hours
I was in Jersey last week. Their east coast is only 14 miles from France. 7 fewer than Calais to Dover.
And yet...I wondered...why don't they get dinghies full of young men coming across?
Because they intercept them, pick em up, lock em up, and return them to France...a safe country.
With the full backing of UK Border Force.
So why don't we do that?
Afghanistan was once Buddhist. Pakistan was once Hindu. Lebanon was once Christian.
Do you think they all voted to become islamic shit holes?
This is why we have borders, immigration policies, and a military, none of which matter if your government are globalist traitors.
England is 1,099 years old today! 🏴 Born in 927 AD.
Always remember this: To be English is to have English ancestry. That can never be taken away from us.
No amount of government policies, propaganda or passports will ever change that.
England is ours, and ours alone.
It is no longer the country into which we were born. I'm so grateful to be the age I am and to have had the best of this once great country. So glad I won't be around to see it's further demise unless there is a revolution in the next few years.
Epictetus was born a slave in the Roman Empire, left lame by one account after a master broke his leg, and worked out something most free men never grasp in a lifetime. Almost nothing that happens to you is actually up to you.
His handbook opens with the whole of Stoic sanity compressed into a single distinction. Some things are within our power, and some are not. Within our power: our opinions, our efforts, our choices, our conduct. Beyond it: our body, our reputation, our property, and the entire vast machinery of the world outside our reach. Get that line in the wrong place, he warned, and you will spend your life lamenting, blaming, and thoroughly wretched.
Now consider the device in your pocket.
You evolved to worry about your village. Perhaps a hundred and fifty people, the ones whose fortunes genuinely touched yours. Your nervous system was calibrated for that scale and no larger. It is a superb instrument for the problems of a small community.
The phone hands it eight billion people's disasters before breakfast. A war you cannot end. A collapse you cannot prevent. A cruelty on the far side of the planet that you can do precisely nothing about except feel it, fully, in your own body, as though it were unfolding in your kitchen.
Your ancestors did not carry this, mercifully, because it was impossible to. You carry it because a machine was built to make you, and to keep you scrolling while you do.
The Stoic move is simple and brutal. Be ruthless about where your care can actually land. Tend the small circle. The people in your house. The work in front of you. The handful of things that will genuinely bend to your effort. Let the weather be the weather.
You were never meant to hold the whole world. Put most of it down.
I don’t want to hear any more politicians lecturing us about not letting “hatred divide us.” We are not the haters. We are not the dividers. You lot in power: look to the people carrying out these monstrous crimes and take responsibility for importing them!
