My wife was telling me about her day when another man's wife texted me.
I stopped listening to my own wife and picked up my phone.
Emily went quiet.
"Never mind," she said. "It's not important."
Then she went upstairs.
I sat there staring at my phone, realizing I was slowly destroying my 13-year marriage over a woman I'd never even kissed.
I'm 41, married to Emily, and we have two children, ages 12 and 9.
For the past two years, our marriage has been struggling. We argue more than we talk, and sometimes we go days without having a proper conversation.
In March 2024, a mutual friend introduced me to Sarah, 38, online.
She's married to James and lives in Atlanta, Georgia. I'm in Houston, Texas.
At first, our conversations were innocent. We talked about work, family, and the problems we were having in our marriages.
Sarah often complained that James was too busy with work. I told her about the growing distance between Emily and me.
She listened without judging me. She checked on me every morning, remembered little things I told her, and sometimes stayed up talking to me until midnight.
Slowly, I started looking forward to her messages more than I should have.
By June 2024, Sarah was the first person I wanted to tell whenever something happened.
Whether I had a bad day or good news to share, Sarah was always the first person I wanted to talk to.
Sometimes, I'd ignore Emily's messages while spending hours replying to Sarah.
I kept telling myself we were just friends.
Then, in August 2024, Sarah sent me a message that changed everything.
"I've fallen for you. Have you ever felt the same way?"
I stared at my screen for several minutes.
Because the truth was, I had feelings for her too.
But we were both married, and I knew where those feelings could lead.
So I told her we couldn't be together.
She said she understood, and we continued talking.
I tried to reduce our conversations, but every time her name appeared on my screen, I found another reason to reply.
In November 2024, Sarah went three days without contacting me.
No calls. No messages.
I checked WhatsApp repeatedly. I even went back through our old conversations, wondering if I'd said something wrong.
When she finally messaged, "Hey, how have you been?" I felt a wave of relief.
That's when I realized how attached I'd become.
The embarrassing part?
I was sitting beside Emily when Sarah's message arrived.
I smiled at my phone while my wife sat right next to me.
A month later, Emily said something that made me realize just how much I'd neglected her....

At some point, we have to ask ourselves: what did Arsenal expect would happen?
This boy arrived with fire in his eyes, confidence in his game and the belief that he could deliver for Arsenal. He gave everything, committed himself to the project and helped us win the league.
Then suddenly, the message started changing.
He was benched from game to game. His place was constantly questioned. Arsenal were even reportedly considering him in potential swap deals.
How is a striker supposed to build confidence when the club keeps showing him that he isnโt trusted?
We told him he was the man.
Then we made him feel like he wasnโt good enough.
Now his confidence is on the floor โ and we expect him to perform like nothing happened.
Iโm sorry, but we have to take some responsibility.
This player gave everything to Arsenal. He surrendered a huge part of his career to come here, and instead of building him up, we have broken him down.
You cannot destroy a playerโs confidence and then demand the same player suddenly produce at the highest level.
Stand with Gyรถkeres. Give him belief. Give him support. Give him time.
He deserves that from us. โค๏ธ
