We are excited to share that the new special issue of Teaching in Higher Education— “Conflict, Peace, and Teaching in Higher Education”—is now out. Some of the authors are presenting their articles today at CIES in San Francisco, and we are honored to be part of this important collection.
It was a privilege to collaborate with my brilliant co-authors, Nicki Gerstner and Faheema Haji-Ibrahim, on our contribution—an autoethnographic dialogue.
The full special issue is open access from March 27 through April 30. Please share widely using the link below

In support of Sierra Leone’s response to the Mpox outbreak, the UK Government deployed the UK Emergency Medical Team (UK‑EMT) for a three‑month mission to assist patients who developed severe complications. The team provided essential plastic and reconstructive surgeries, clinical care, training and counselling, and has now donated surgical kits, rehabilitation equipment and specialist micro‑surgical instruments to Connaught Hospital to help maintain ongoing patient care.

As we celebrate #WorldPrematurityDay, #MoH@DembyAustin is proud of achieving over 90% survival rate for the estimated 24,000 premature babies born each year. The establishment of the Special Care Baby Unit with @FCDOGovUK@UNICEFSL allows for tiny babies to survive & thrive.
After #SierraLeone confirmed its first mpox case in January 2025, infections and fatalities rose rapidly, driven by home-based care.
Health Minister Dr Austin Demby(@DembyAustin) explains how a decisive shift to managing patients in treatment centres reversed the trend, sharply reducing deaths and strengthening the country’s outbreak response.
