I mean, it’s getting harder and harder to ignore the narrative imbalance we’re probably going to get going into Season 2.
A lot of people keep saying, “Oh no, the other stories are all important to Shane and Ilya. They’re all connected to them.” But actually, no. They’re important to Ilya, not necessarily Shane. Shane barely has any interactions with most of these characters in the books.
Rachel is the one who established this structure where Ilya is essentially woven into every single book, so naturally, all of these other storylines connect back to him. But Shane doesn’t have that same connection to these characters or their stories. So when you keep adding more and more of these narratives into a season that is supposedly Shane and Ilya’s story, Shane is inevitably going to be the one who gets pushed to the side.
Unless Jacob creates additional scenes and material specifically for Shane/Hudson, I genuinely don’t see how Season 2 can feel like a fully fleshed-out Shane and Ilya story.
Because you can’t just say, “This is Shane and Ilya’s story,” and then adapt a book where Shane is already largely a supporting character, while simultaneously adding multiple other characters and storylines that primarily connect to Ilya, and expect Shane’s narrative to naturally remain balanced.
idk how people watched brand new day & came out of the theater thinking petermj’s arc is over… personally, i interpreted it as a new beginning for them where we’re gonna see mj fall in love with peter again
