This Thursday, July 2nd, the Solid’Africa team visited the Ntarama Genocide Memorial in Bugesera District to pay tribute and honor the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The visit served as a moment of remembrance, reflection, and collective commitment to ensuring that history is never forgotten.

We concluded the day by visiting one of the survivors in Ntarama, where we extended our support for a home renovation.

As we remember, we also reaffirm our commitment to compassion, dignity, and community.

On Saturday June 20th, we were honored to welcome Robin Le Normand of @Atleti , together with the Visit Rwanda team from RDB, for an immersive journey through Solid’Africa’s Farm-to-Plate system.

The visit began at our 9-hectare farm in Rugende, where Robin and his team saw firsthand how we grow fresh, nutritious fruits and vegetables that are used to prepare nourishing meals in public schools and public hospitals every day.

They also joined our Founder and CEO for an avocado tree-planting activity, contributing to our farm ecosystem!

From there, the journey continued to our Clean Energy Mike Stenbock Gemura Kitchen in Rusororo, where those same ingredients are transformed into nutritious meals that heal patients and fuel students in public hospitals and schools.

Through experiences like these, we invite visitors to connect with locally driven, sustainable solutions that are improving lives every day across Rwanda.

A centralized clean-energy kitchen, preparing nutritious meals for public schools within a one-hour radius! Our CEO @NKaturamu
welcomed Betty Kibaara, Director of Food Programs at the @rockefellerfdn , to our newly launched centralized kitchen in Bujyujyu.

As one of the learning labs supported through catalytic funding from the Rockefeller Foundation, this hybrid-powered kitchen (solar and grid electricity) shows how partnership, innovation, and bold vision come together to transform school meals through farm to plate model.
Together, we are building scalable systems that get meals to students hot, safe, nutritious, and on time fueling learning and growth!

We were pleased to host representatives from @SolarSPELL for a Farm-to-Plate experience, which kicked off at our Rugende Farm, where they explored our agricultural practices and the foundation of our food system.

The visit then continued at the Mike Stenbock Gemura Kitchen at CHUK, our clean energy kitchen, where they engaged in hands-on volunteering with our hospital feeding service, before concluding with a guided tour of the same kitchen, showcasing how we deliver efficient, dignified meal services for patients.

A meaningful journey across a nutrition infrastructure that connects farm production, innovation, and care ensuring every meal contributes to healing and recovery.

On Tuesday, we had the privilege of hosting our valued partner, the Rwanda Social Security Board @RSSB_Rwanda , for the Mike Stenbock Gemura Kitchen (MSGK) – CHUK visit, a meaningful moment of collaboration, learning, and shared purpose.

The visit was led by their CEO, @Regis_Rugema , who had the opportunity to see firsthand how our partnership is being implemented on the ground and the impact it continues to generate within CHUK and beyond.

This visit was a strong demonstration of commitment to understanding operational realities and strengthening the systems that underpin high-impact, sustainable nutrition and healthcare solutions.

During the visit, we conducted a guided walkthrough of our operations, shared key insights from implementation, and reflected on the progress achieved through our joint efforts in building resilient, high-functioning systems that support nutrition, patient care, and institutional efficiency.

*Visitors Spotlight*

We recently welcomed Betty Kibaara, Director of Food Programs at @rockefellerfdn , to Solid’Africa’s Bujyujyu School Feeding Kitchen and Kitchen Gardens in Rwamagana District, supporting school feeding for nearby schools, including GS Bujyujyu.

The visit highlighted the power of linking local agriculture to nutrition. Through our school feeding programme, implemented in partnership with the Government of Rwanda and supported by The Rockefeller Foundation, 29,000 students receive nutritious daily meals sourced from local farmers.

The impact goes beyond the classroom. While children enjoy healthier meals that support learning and wellbeing, farmers benefit from reliable markets, predictable demand, and stronger livelihoods, creating sustainable local food systems that serve entire communities.
