@ECvHg5OjGNR8OGk@ben_1225 Luffy is a pirate, the Phantom Thieves are the protagonists, Lupin has run for fifty years. Your own canon disagrees. And I never said steal it, I said dont give up, make the companies do better and sell it to the people asking for it.
@ECvHg5OjGNR8OGk@ben_1225 Just give up, from the place that exports a thousand stories about not giving up. Why not the other way, make these companies see the audience waiting for them, so this stuff is shared and buyable everywhere. Thats a better world than the one youre settling for. "NAH I'D WIN"
@ECvHg5OjGNR8OGk@ben_1225 Piracy can never go away, in and outside japan, in any country. METI even stated that. The best solution is making games, anime, manga more accessible so people can buy it legally and people that are forced to pirate have the convenience of buying. Make the companies do this.
@tatsuvar Yeah that's just one example and honestly apart from the older practice of console exclusivity squeenix did they are good at making games accessible, I'd say the more egregious offender is bandai namco.
@ECvHg5OjGNR8OGk@ben_1225 You're right at the edge of the point. North America pirates too, every country does, and it still bought half a million copies. Piracy existing somewhere doesnt stop that place from paying. Give people a legal way to buy and the audience that is willing to pay, pays.

@ECvHg5OjGNR8OGk@ben_1225 Ive said what I needed. Selling overseas makes money, thats published, not disputed. A legal option wont end piracy, but it turns a good chunk of people who have no other choice into paying customers. Hold the companies to that, not the customers.
@ECvHg5OjGNR8OGk@ben_1225 Miyazaki said sales were slow enough that the team feared it would fail. 134,585 in Japan through 2009, while North America did 150,000 in month one and half a million in a year on a 75k projection. Sony passed on publishing it abroad and later called that a mistake.

@ECvHg5OjGNR8OGk@ben_1225 Your own country prosecutes this harder than anyone and still has over a thousand sites running in Japanese. Enforcement isnt the fix. Supply and price is, its in the first chapter of any business course, and you've walked past it every single time.
@ECvHg5OjGNR8OGk@ben_1225 By that logic Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Elden Ring shouldnt exist, because every one of them traces back to the game you think should have stayed buried. You'd rather the work died than owe anything to foreign buyers. Thats not love for it, thats ownership.
@ECvHg5OjGNR8OGk@ben_1225 Mangamura was Japanese run and Japanese read for two years. ABJ counts over a thousand Japanese language piracy sites still operating today with Japanese visitors, over a trillion yen in estimated damage. So ask your own 95% when theyre disappearing.
@ECvHg5OjGNR8OGk@ben_1225 It flopped at home, thats the part you walked past. And piracy has a fix, you've been told it three times now and keep refusing, so this was never about the obstacle. You just want to keep the thing to yourselves.
@ECvHg5OjGNR8OGk@ben_1225 To be clear, your value is whatever a company decides it is. Ours isnt. You spent this whole thread ranking people and managed to put yourself under everyone you were insulting.
@ECvHg5OjGNR8OGk@ben_1225 Your own numbers beat you. Five buyers out of a hundred is five more than zero, and no company turns that trade down. Also, before you put the 95 overseas, Mangamura pulled 100 million visits a month inside Japan and ABJ still counts over a thousand piracy sites there.
@Ekyanyae@uesama2645@Hyw2M@siina_karen Also, the only person claiming a right to anything in this thread is you. Nobody appointed you the one who decides how other fans show it or what they can use the characters for. Being born closer to the publisher isnt a licence.
@Ekyanyae@uesama2645@Hyw2M@siina_karen Standing up to what is unfair is the entire point of these stories, you just dont like who picked it up. And the audience you're sick of funds over half your industry, buyers and the ones who found it another way and became buyers.
@uesama2645@Ekyanyae@Hyw2M@siina_karen That logic eats itself. You're telling people their only option is to buy it, in a conversation about things that are not sold to them. There is no genuine copy to buy. Releasing it fixes your problem and mine at once, which is the whole point I keep making.
@uesama2645@Ekyanyae@Hyw2M@siina_karen I condone neither. Copying isnt theft either, its infringement, separate offences in your own legal code. What I said was that restricted supply creates black markets and you fix it by selling the thing, which you keep stepping over because that asks something of the companies.
