Who is Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei
1969 in Mashhad, he is the second son of the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Education: He studied preliminary seminary courses at the Ayatollah Mojtahedi school in Tehran, participated in the Iran-Iraq War on the frontlines, and in 1989 moved to Qom to continue his advanced religious studies until 1992. He later returned to Tehran for five years of further study and married Zahra Haddad Adel in 1997, before returning to Qom.

Advanced Studies: He studied under prominent scholars such as Ahmad Miyanji, Reza Astadi, Ayatollahs Javadi Tabrizi, Hossein Vahid Khorasani, and others, including attending advanced jurisprudence (Bahth al-Kharij) sessions with his father, gaining a strong foundation in Islamic sciences, jurisprudence, and the principles of religious leadership.

Teaching Career: Over 17 years, he taught advanced religious studies, wrote scholarly reports in Arabic, and engaged in scientific debates with senior scholars. His teaching style combined intellectual rigor, innovation, and clarity, making his sessions highly attended, with up to 400 students pre-COVID and 1,300 registered in 1402, with over 700 attending the first session before he temporarily suspended the class for moral reasons.

Contributions: He innovated in curriculum, methodology, and the systematization of ideas while maintaining humility and high ethics. He helped establish various religious and social institutions, combining scientific learning with community service, particularly aiding the poor, and developing revolutionary religious cadres.

Political & Administrative Roles: He maintained close relationships with senior religious leaders, his father, and key figures in ethics and spirituality. He participated in managing significant national issues, including economic, housing, agricultural, and scientific projects, as well as overseeing major military and strategic affairs.

Relations with Military & Resistance Leaders: He has maintained close ties with commanders in the Iranian military and the “Resistance Axis,” notably Hassan Nasrallah and the late General Qasem Soleimani.

Security Threats: His prominence and leadership roles have made him a target of repeated U.S. and Israeli hostility, though previous attempts against him have failed.

Summary: Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei combines deep religious scholarship, practical administrative experience, military-strategic awareness, and revolutionary ethics, positioning him as the new Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
