George R. R. Martin has released statement on his progress on writing The Winds of Winter following rumours about a publication date and recent viral posts that he is almost finished.

He has said that the book will be finished ‘When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. When the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leaves. Then will another book be released and not before.’
