🇪🇹 Ethiopia’s old enemies are now teaming up against Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

Amhara’s Fano rebels are joining a wider anti-government alliance that includes the TPLF, a powerful group from northern Ethiopia’s Tigray region, along with several other armed groups.

That’s a huge turnaround. Fano and Tigrayan forces fought each other during Ethiopia’s brutal 2020-2022 war.

Now they share one priority: putting pressure on Abiy’s government. Fano has been gaining ground in Amhara, while tensions in Tigray are heating up again.

They still have serious disputes between themselves, but for now, Abiy is the bigger problem.

A One Person Protest in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Today 🪧

Today, one brave Ethiopian stood alone at Megenagna Square and spoke what millions fear to say. He was arrested by regime police for peacefully expressing his opposition to Abiy Ahmed’s government.

He held a powerful message calling Abiy Ahmed a dictator, a thief and a murderer. He demanded that Abiy step down and face justice.

This man is a hero. He stood alone but his courage represents the voice of millions. What one courageous Ethiopian did today, millions may one day do together.

The regime must release him immediately and ensure his safety. I pray that he survives whatever abuse or torture he may face in custody and returns safely to his family and loved ones.

He is not a criminal for speaking his conscience. He is a hero for having the courage to stand alone.

May God protect him, strengthen him and bring him home safely.
