This afternoon, I virtually joined the World Bank Fragility Forum 2026 to discuss how a shifting global landscape is affecting fragile and developing economies like Sierra Leone.

I emphasized that international support in fragile settings must focus on building resilience, strengthening institutions, and creating jobs for young people. As aid flows decline, geopolitical competition intensifies, and climate shocks become more frequent, the challenge before us is not only how to finance development, but how to sustain the gains we have already made.

The task ahead is to ensure that our partnerships deliver practical solutions that improve lives and expands opportunity for every Sierra Leonean.

UNRCO teams (🇸🇱, 🇱🇷, 🇨🇮 and🇬🇳) were also given a guided tour of the Peace Garden at the National Peace Museum- an open space of remembrance, healing, and reflection for victims of Sierra Leone’s 1991–2002 civil war.

A quiet moment of honour, and a powerful close to a journey through memory, justice, and peace.
