Today, I paid a working visit to His Excellency Abdelmadjid Tebboune (@TebbouneAmadjid) President of #Algeria at the El Mouradia Palace in Algiers.
During the visit, we discussed our shared interest in advancing Sierra Leone-Algeria relations, anchored on the longstanding and mutually beneficial relationship that exists between our two countries.
To this end, we discussed plans to have the 3rd Joint Commission Cooperation (JCC) to promote cooperation in the areas of #education, #energy, #agriculture, #fisheries and #military.
Also, we agreed to activate plans towards hosting embassies in our respective countries to further strengthen people-to-people engagement between both countries.
We jointly agreed on the imperative of promoting #Africa’s Common Position on the Reform of the @UN #SecurityCouncil during our tenure at the #UNSC, as advanced in the Ezulwini Consensus and Sirte Declaration.
#SierraLeone and Algeria took their seats as Non-Permanent Members of the #UnitedNations Security Council and we are committed to using our two-year tenure towards promoting Africa’s Common Position at the Security Council.

Today, I joined my brother and our host His Excellency @CyrilRamaphosa, President of #SouthAfrica and members of the @_AfricanUnion in Johannesburg to mark the 20th Anniversary of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM).
On this auspicious milestone, we acknowledge the selfless strides of the African Leaders who laid the foundation for this important self-assessment instrument designed to promote accountability, transparency and adherence to democratic principles.

After the second day of questioning by the Sierra Leone police, former president of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma has been granted bail on self recognizance and with the condition that he stays in the confines of his property at Goderich with restricted number of visiting guests (3 from his family and 3 from his party). Following the national address by His Excellency @PresidentBio last evening, assuring citizens of calm, the nationwide curfew has been revised accordingly-it now holds from 9pm-6am daily until further notice.
Fellow Sierra Leoneans,
I bring you greetings from the Presidential Lodge in Freetown.
In the early hours of this morning, there was a breach of security at the Military Barracks at Wilberforce in Freetown, as some unidentified individuals attacked the military armoury.
However, they were repelled by our gallant Security Forces and calm has been restored.
As the combined team of our Security Forces continue to root out the remnant of the fleeing renegades, a nationwide curfew has been declared and citizens are encouraged to stay indoors.
The PEACE of our beloved NATION is PRICELESS and we shall continue to protect the peace and security of Sierra Leone against the forces that wish to truncate our much-cherished stability.
We remain resolute in our determination to protect democracy in Sierra Leone and I urge all Sierra Leoneans to unite towards this collective responsibility.
Long Live The Republic of Sierra Leone. 🇸🇱

Today, in line with my Government’s commitment to pursuing a transformative path towards a more sustainable and secure energy future, we launched Sierra Leone’s first National Climate Resilience And Energy Transition Dialogue.
This Dialogue aimed at developing a Just and Inclusive Energy Transition Plan and a Climate Resilient Agricultural and Food Systems Strategy for the country will galvanise input from the public and private sectors, development partners and civil society organisations.
During my Keynote Address, I highlighted the dangers that we face as a nation due to climate variability and #climatechange, which affect citizens and make climate adaptation efforts more pressing as rapid changes in weather patterns erode the productivity of local water and food systems and generate unintended consequences for sustainable development.
I also shared my Government’s medium and long-term vision for energy, including comprehensive energy sector reforms to provide the enabling environment to achieve at least 300MW of new generation capacity by 2028 including a significant share of renewable energy, and mobilising investments for 1GW energy generation capacity over the next 10-15 years for local consumption and export in the sub-region.
Our country must unlock its huge #renewableenergy potential and combine this with conventional energy to light up and power our homes and businesses.
This National Dialogue is a step in the right direction to build strategic partnerships on #energy that allow us to reach a greater level of ambition and delivery.
With our collective effort, we shall achieve our vision of transforming #SierraLeone into a regional leader in #cleanenergy access, climate resilience and #foodsecurity.
Addressing OACPS Ambassadors here in Brussels, and also pitching Sierra Leone as a choice destination to some key business leaders, His Excellency @PresidentBio has been hailed as ‘a beacon of hope, leadership, and transformation on the continent’.
