My doctoral thesis “The Nightmare Realm: trauma, the child and creative practice in fictional dream worlds”. The first part is a novel about a boy who gets lost in a nightmare world. It is dark but just the way a fairy tale is dark. https://t.co/jrE1VwV7sh
When I went to see Melissa Etheridge and Sheryl Crow in concert there was a long line for the women’s toilets and hardly a line at all for the men’s and so a woman ran in used the men’s stall next to me. She was a hero, everyone was nice to her. Just use whatever toilet who cares

Pauline Hanson’s supporters are protesting but it’s not about any of the things they claim, they’re protesting against reality itself. Reality is not up to standard right now for many people and they are keen to support anyone who does not live there. It’s the same with Trump.
Is there a reason everyone seems to be reading East of Eden? I read it when I was in my early twenties and struggling with some things and my response was a little extreme. I might read it again one day just to re-evaluate with the light of middle age.
@ArtistAffame I emailed an ALP member years ago (I forget who) suggesting superannuation should be paid on the DSP. No response for a year until I randomly remembered and sent another email. They lied and said they’d tried to call me and then the response just said their policy was the NDIS.
Most science isn’t harder to render in plain English than the humanities unless it’s very maths heavy and in both cases there’s a level of technicality that is beyond a lay reader and requires careful study and other prep work.
The problem with plain english in the humanities is that in this field they problematise the meaning of ordinary words. Someone might write a thesis on the word “problem”. So even if you use a limited vocabulary, the complexity of engagement with those words increases.
There are plain english books about theoretical physics and I have read them; they omit the maths which it is based on which is the substance of the argument, but it was possible for me to follow at least some of the concepts. The weakness is you have to take their word for it.
