Breaking the Chains of Colonialism: Tiken Jah Fakoly's Powerful Message
Renowned Ivorian reggae singer and songwriter Tiken Jah Fakoly has been a voice for the voiceless, advocating for pan-Africanism and an African economic, political, and cultural resurgence. His powerful and thought-provoking music addresses social and political issues, speaking to the injustices faced by Africans and calling for unity and empowerment.
One of his notable songs, "Plus rien ne m'étonne" (Nothing Surprises Me Anymore), from his 2004 album, is a poignant critique of colonialism and its lasting impact on Africa. Despite being sung in French, the song's message transcends language barriers, resonating with anyone who has experienced the effects of colonialism and oppression.
The lyrics, when translated, reveal a scathing indictment of the colonial powers that divided and conquered Africa, imposing their own systems and values on the continent. The song is a call to action, urging Africans to recognize the ways in which they have been manipulated and controlled, and to reclaim their power and identity.
As we reflect on the legacy of colonialism and its ongoing impact on Africa, Tiken Jah Fakoly's music serves as a powerful reminder of the need for unity, self-determination, and empowerment. Let us continue to amplify the voices of African artists and leaders who are working towards a brighter future for the continent.

A New Dawn in Nsukka LGA: Party Faithfuls Unite Behind Gov. Mbah's Visionary Leadership
The enthusiasm and energy emanating from today's ward meetings across Nsukka Local Government Area are undeniable! Despite the short notice, the impressive turnout of party faithfuls, members, executives, and stakeholders is a resounding testament to the overwhelming support for His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, and Engr Jude Asogwa Chinedu, the Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Council.
As a member of the monitoring team, delegated by Hon. Engr. Chris Ezema, PDP Nsukka LGA Chairman, I had the privilege of visiting three wards: Owerre/Umuoyo, Nru, and Agbemere/Umabor. Although the meetings didn't commence simultaneously, I was fortunate to attend the gatherings, which were characterized by excitement, goodwill, and a deep sense of commitment to the party's ideals.
The party faithfuls, stakeholders, and executives in attendance were effusive in their praise for Dr. Mbah's visionary leadership and Engr. Asogwa's exemplary stewardship. Asadu Ameze from Owerre/Umuoyo Ward openly acknowledged his initial skepticism about Dr. Mbah's emergence but has since become a staunch supporter, impressed by the governor's unwavering commitment to the welfare and development of Nsukka people.
Similarly, Hon. Modestus Asogwa, a former Labour Party Ward Vice Chairman who has returned to the PDP, and Hon. Mercy Onah, a top stakeholder at Nru Ward and former Deputy Mayor of Nsukka Local Government Council, delivered impassioned speeches, highlighting Dr. Mbah's numerous achievements and the transformative impact of his administration on Enugu State.
The widespread support and enthusiasm for Dr. Mbah and Engr. Asogwa are a resounding endorsement of their leadership and vision. As the Publicity Secretary of PDP Nsukka LGA, I am proud to be part of this momentum, and I look forward to continuing our work together to build a brighter future for Nsukka and Enugu State.
