Zemuy Teklu, a businessman who established the Shoa Bakery seven decades ago, passed away.
The Bakery has been a well-known franchise that turned to over 16 outlets in Addis Abeba alone at some point, becoming a landmark for residents.
Zemuy has survived by five children, including a daughter who owns Bilos Pastry, a renowned brand in the capital. He was also a brother of Belay Teklu, another business mogul known for establishing a popular pastry house in the Merkato area.

SAY NO TO GMO‼️
Advanced countries are going back to the natural way of cultivating.👇🏽
Serious adverse events of GM consumption include mortality, tumour or cancer, significant low fertility, decreased learning and reaction abilities, and some organ abnormalities. Further clinical trials and long-term cohort studies in human populations, especially on GM food-related adverse events and the corresponding GM events, are still warranted. It suggests the necessity of labelling GM food so that consumers can make their own choice.

The Washington Post story is a call for all Ethiopians irrespective of ethnic and/or religious differences to come together to build a strong viable nation together. No one is safe in an ethnocentric system where the motive is power, greed and corruption. The broader diaspora and global community should express their concern and readiness to contribute towards stopping atrocities, human rights violations, and ongoing socioeconomic destruction to avert a looming crisis. Ethiopia is a nation of more than 115 million people.
