Is the two week ceasefire a bid to buy time and provide a small amount of relief to the global economy, before putting boots on the ground in Iran?
Because if the Iranian regime remains in power, then the US and her allies will have lost the war.

USA potwierdza, że Rosja zaatakuje Polskę. Nie muszą się specjalnie męczyć, bo mają u nas sporo swoich ludzi. Mają zielone ludziki od Bąkiewicza, Brauna i kamratów.
Mają namiestnika w pałacu i ludzi w PiS, Konfederacji i całą partię Brauna.
Dołożą drony i rakiety i mają komplet, mogą napadać na Polskę.
W tym czasie nasz kraj zalewa fala antyukraińskich nastrojów.
Myślicie, że to przypadek?
Nie, to zaplanowana i dobrze skoordynowana akcja, mająca za cel: rozwibrować i osłabić Polskę.
Opamiętajcie się. Rosja jest wrogiem Polski!!!
Ukraina jest naszym sojusznikiem, a my jesteśmy sojusznikiem Ukrainy!!!
I agree with the point on the Baltics - not a 'soft target' by any means - but geography matters here. The Russians could grab much more territory, more rapidly in the Baltics, rather than attacking Poland.
Irrespective of that, a Russian attack on NATO wouldn't be designed to 'invade and occupy' - it would be to break NATO's resolve, shatter Article 5 and destroy NATO's credibility. Even if there is no consensus within the NATO council about a response, and Article 5 fails catastrophically, I can't see the Poles, Finland or Sweden, or for that matter, the Baltics, and others, simply standing by and letting Russia grab parts of Lithuania or Latvia or Estonia.
It would be a wider war in Europe.
The real risk in my view is that Russia would accompany such a conventional provocation with clear and explicit nuclear threats. Looking at the comments on X over recent days about this possible challenge, the nuclear dimension is completely ignored. I think that's mirror imaging on our part - because we wouldn't use nukes, people assume the Russians wouldn't either.
Don't be so quick to dismiss this threat. Putin likes to rattle nuclear sabres, and in a clash with NATO, he could go further, including a 'demonstrative strike' - perhaps over the Baltic Sea - to threaten wider use of nuclear weapons if NATO responds to the conventional provocation. Or an atmospheric nuclear test just to get the message across. The question a prospective 'coalition of the willing' within NATO, absent cover from Article 5, would then have to ask themselves is are they prepared to risk escalation?
Putin's goal is to dictate the terms of NATO's capitulation in eastern and central Europe. A conventional 'provocation' - perhaps against the Baltics, even against Poland - but backed up by clear readiness to use nuclear weapons coercively - would be how I'd see this scenario play out.
Even in the most darkest hour, I would hope NATO would stand firm, because if it folds, Russia will simply grab more, backed by further nuclear threats.
This has been obvious for a long time.
Europe is in danger. Hence my continued advocacy for the Europeans to send troops to Ukraine and join the war.
It will not only bring a much swifter victory but allow the Europeans to learn rapidly from experience - the ultimate deterrent.
JUST IN:
Ukrainian drones have struck the St. Petersburg oil terminal in northwestern Russia.
Ukraine continues to inflict significant damage on Russia's energy infrastructure.
Polands Prime Minister Tusk has said Poland is intensely preparing for numerous security scenarios regarding Russia and said the next months will be crucial for Baltic security with signs of potential Russian preparations for provocations being present.
BREAKING:
Ukraine just launched a massive drone swarm attack, mainly targeting Moscow.
Southern Ukraine and Russian-occupied Crimea are also under heavy attack from Ukrainian long-range drones tonight.
The most amazing fact I know of about how abysmal a failure socialism is, is that when things got really bad in Communist countries like the USSR and PRC, the way they made it so people didn't die in mass and collapse it all was by letting go of some of the socialism.
Russia is already lying about Kyiv, pretending this was about “military targets.”
Hotels are burning. Apartment blocks are burning. Civilians are still trapped under the rubble.
I went on @SkyNews to say the obvious: Russia is talking absolute shit.
🚨 UPD: Death toll rises to 30 following Russian missile attack on Kyiv.
Rescue teams recovered three additional bodies from the rubble today, bringing the total number of fatalities caused by the massive Russian strike on the capital to 30.
🔴 UPD: The death toll in Kyiv rises to 17.
At least 90 others were also injured as a result of the Russian attack on the capital, among them are children. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
😍🔥🔥One of Russia's largest refineries, "LUKOIL-Nizhnekamsknefteorgsintez" in Kstovo, got hit hard by Ukrainian UAVs
The plant processes up to 17 million tons of oil per year. Here, gasoline, diesel, and aviation kerosene are produced, which, among other things, help the Russian army continue the war against Ukraine.
NETANYAHU ON IRAN’S NUCLEAR CAPABILITY
PM Benjamin Netanyahu claimed Iran had “already had obtained” atomic bombs during a TV interview, marking the first time he has publicly asserted Tehran already possessed nuclear weapons.
🇷🇺🇫🇮🇪🇪🇱🇻 By executing sudden logistical shutdowns along its western borders, Moscow is intentionally cutting transportation ties with neighboring NATO states while rapidly reinforcing military positioning in the region.
Today, Russia banned any movement of people, vehicles, goods, and cargo by rail across its borders with Finland, Estonia, and Latvia.
⚠️The restrictions apply to the following checkpoints and crossings:
🔺 With Finland — including train routes toward Finland from Saint Petersburg, Vyborg, and Svetlogorsk, as well as Vyartsilya and Lyukhty in Karelia.
⛔️In addition, crossings are closed at Pechory on the Estonian border and Pytalovo on the Latvian border.
◼️ Moscow has not explained these atypical actions and has not specified when the restrictions might be lifted.
🔹Information about the closure of border checkpoints emerged amidst Russia expanding its military infrastructure along the NATO border. According to reports, Russia is constructing new barracks, ammunition depots, and logistical facilities near the borders of Finland, Norway, and the Baltic countries, with plans to station up to 115,000 troops there in the future.

🇺🇦 Russia cannot stop the war because someone asks for it, — Zelensky
💬Putin wants to continue the war. Therefore, it is important to make it impossible to continue the war
Zelensky also stressed the need to increase sanctions pressure on Russia, in particular against "shadow fleet."
We must keep talking about Kherson. Russіans are huntіng civilians.
This is hоrrifying. And word must never become accustomed to it.
The more voices speak about Kherson, the greater the chance that the world will hear what is happening there.
